Defiance……….…to many people this word brings to mind “non-compliance”, or “disobedience” – I however, think about the new television series “Defiance” that is set to premier on the Syfy network in the United States on starting on April the 15th. The main reason for MY excitement is due to the companion video, to be released on April the 2nd that’s just 2 weeks before the show hits the air!

The series placed in what was once Saint Louis, Missouri – the game is said to be in the San Francisco Bay Area. Both the television series and the video game take place in the near future where, Aliens have arrived to take up residents on OUR planet. “ARK’s” carrying the aliens and their technology were shot down – which began the terraforming process of Earth (with dire consequences).

Because of our mistake(s) we now live in what I think could be described as “FireFly” meets “FarScape” in a wasteland similar to “Borderlands” but on Earth!

According to the developers, the way the game “could” play out on consoles may in fact have a real impact on what happens to the story and the characters on the show (and vice versa). For example: if the majority of players somehow get over run by an invading alien force the team of writers for the show, MAY have a character later on in the show (a week or two, maybe more) mention that they heard something about San Fran being over run – and leave the show for a few weeks to SUDDENLY appear in the game at your side!
