Being a simulation game, the points can be very easy to get, if you know what you are doing! Unfortunately A-Train HX came with no tutorial and the manual really is totally useless if you have never done any simulation games before, or are not familiar with the A-Train series.
The menu’s can be confusing as well, however I will try to give a step by step guide. This will be particularly useful for those who have just rented the game and received no manual. As this site is about easy achievements, then this guide is aimed at getting the achievements quickly.
If you were to play this game legit, then it will be very time consuming, as you would need to build a lot of property and railway. But I am going to give you two cheats, on how to get a lot of money without the need to build a whole city.
The main aim of this game is to clear a map. To clear a map you need to reach 10 billion. Use the Money Cheat (slow but useful for some achievements) OR Convenience Store Cheat (quick way) or BOTH!
Money Cheat
To get a lot of money easily, you can play the stock market. In the main title menu , select new game, then select the map “Clear River and Rice Paddies’ This is the best map, as you start with one billion already. For the purpose of this guide, I will refer to the money as dollars.
As soon as you enter the map, click on “Start” on your controller. This will pause the game, and you will notice on the top, right of the clock, your funds will freeze.
Click either left or right on your D-Pad, and you will notice the menus on left of the screen will scroll to different selections. You need to press “A” to enter any of these menus and “B” to exit. Don’t worry too much about this for the time being, I will get back to this.
Now click RB. The flashing icon on the top right is your Timeline. This dictates how fast the days will lapse in this game. Because you want to get money quickly, you will need to it kick right to the end. To do this, click and hold Right on the D-pad until the arrow reaches to the far right. To exit, click “B”.
Now click left or right on the D-Pad to scroll through the left hand menu selections until you find “Market”. Click “A” to enter it. The first menu should be “Share Exchange” with “Buy Shares” below it.
Notice the Price column. To make money you need to BUY shares at around $7 and SELL them at around $13. All the shares will ALWAYS group together at around the same price. That is, they will rise and fall together.
Now click your “Start” button on your controller to un-pause the game. Notice the share price start to fall or rise as the days go by. You will also notice your funds (at the top next to the clock) start to fall. Don’t panic too much about your funds. The loss is very minimal while playing the stock market.
Wait for the share price to fall to around about $7. Exactly when the price will fall to $7 is hard to tell, as it is totally random. It can take from 2 minutes to 20 minutes, but they WILL fall.
Once they have reached at about $7, pause the game by pushing the “Start” button on your controller. You now need to buy as much shares as you can. Click “Y” to change to the maximum quantity you can obtain (10,000), click Up or Down on your D-Pad to select your shares and then click “A” to buy. Buy as many cheap company shares as you can, but I recommend to leave at least 100 million left in your funds.
I also recommend you save before you buy (or sell) just in case you find the prices more attractive after a transaction. That way you can go back to a save and try again. The market does behave similar after a save (if only for a short while). To save a game, click “B” to exit the Market menu, then click Left or Right on the D-Pad to scroll to the File menu. Press “A” to enter the menu, then select Save. Then choose a Save slot. You may need to delete a slot before the game will let you save.
Once you have bought all your shares, click “Start” to un-pause the game and wait until the share price reaches around about $13. Once again , when this actually happens is random. But they EVENTUALLY do go down to $7 and up to $13.
Incidentally, ignore all the pop up messages about the stock market crashing or surging. Most of the time they are lying.
Once they have reached $13, pause the game. You now need to sell your shares. Click Right on your D-Pad and the “Sell Shares” option will appear under the “Sell Exchange” banner. Click “A” to sell your shares.
You should roughly make between 100 - 200 million profit the first time around. Repeat the above process until you reach around about 8 billion. Each time you make a profit, you can afford to buy even more shares and so on. Just remember to leave at least 100 million in your funds.
Once you have 8 billion, you can save your game. You will use this save to get some achievements. Then you can borrow the rest from the bank to reach 10 billion to clear a map. See “National Conquest” achievement below on how to borrow money.
Convenience Store Cheat
A quicker way to clear a map and reach 10 billion is to build 500 - 1000 Convenience Stores around a Materials Yard. They somehow make quite a huge profit and if you let the game sim, you will reach a a couple billion within 20 mins or so. To avoid huge Property Tax just sell your all your property before it is due, which is April 1st. You should reach 10 billion easily and clear the map. If you fall just short, borrow the rest. See “National Conquest” achievement below on how to borrow money.
To construct property other than factories or stations, you will need to a materials yard nearby. You will need goods trains to transport the materials to the materials yards. Once you have enough materials you will be able to construct your chosen property.
Choose the map “Clear River and Rice Paddies”. This is the easiest to build as you start with 1 billion.
Pause the game, then scroll RIGHT using your Left Stick until you find the edge of the map. You will recognize the edge as a real straight blue block into nothing. Move a little way back into the map and you will need to construct a Marshalling Yard. The track has to be straight and long enough to fit 5 -7 carriages.
To do this, click Left or Right on the D-Pad until you reach Station Menu. Press “A” to enter it. Scroll using your D-Pad until you find Marshaling Yard. Press ”X” to alter the number of platforms to 5. Make sure your station is in the right direction. The rails need to be heading INTO the blue nothing edge. Press “Y” to alter the direction of the station. Then press “A” to construct, then ”B” to exit.
You now need to construct some rail. Scroll until you find the Rail menu and press ”A” to enter. Press “A” again to lay down tracks. Lay down five tracks leading from the Marshalling Yard into the blue nothing edge then press “B to exit.
Once you have your five tracks, you will need to put some goods trains on all five tracks. Scroll until you find the Train menu. Make sure your yellow selection box is above one of your open rails, and not above the station. Press “A” to enter the Train menu. Click down on the D-Pad until you reach an empty slot. Ignore the trains on the filled slots. You should have “Buy Train” at the bottom of the menu. Press “A” to buy train. I suggest buying the “Model EC6” goods train. but any goods train will do. Press “Y” until it has 5 - 7 carriages.
Press “A’ to confirm, then “A” to set the train. To place goods trains on your other four tracks, click down on the D-Pad until you find an empty slot and repeat the above buying process, then press ”B” to exit the Train menu.
Once you have you five trains, move your yellow selection box over you Marshaling Yard station until you see “Station Settings” at the bottom of your screen. Press “X” to enter. Make sure you are at the “Manual Timetable” menu and then scroll down to “Load & Unload” and CHANGE it “Unload” only. Then press ”X” to copy all trains. Press “A” to confirm, then “B” to exit.
Now click Left or Right on the D-Pad until you reach Station Menu again. Press “A” to enter it. Scroll and select “Materials Yard” Construct material yards around your Marshaling Station. Keep them close together and you can roughly have about 20 squares on each side of the station. If you go beyond 20, the materials will not stock up. After you have constructed a “huge” materials yard, the bigger the better, press “B” to exit.
Un-pause the game, and you will start to see the materials building up in your yards. Make sure your Timeline is set to the fastest lapse. Click RB to get to the Timeline and click Right on the D-Pad to the end to set it to fast.
Now SAVE your game once you have a lot of materials. You can use this Material Yard for other achievements.
Now reload your save and start to construct Convenience Stores around the Material Yards. To do this head into Construction, and scroll until you find Shops, then Up or Down to find Convenience Store. Press “A” to construct. They are cheap and very profitable. Lay them close together side by side, and build at least of them 200 - 300 of them. The more you build, the more profit. Build as much as you can afford, then let the game sim. If you run out of money, let the game sim for a few minutes by un-pausing the game, and you will soon get some more money.
Once you have a couple of hundred, let the game sim and watch your funds start to rise. Sell your trains once the material yard is completely full, as they will cut into your profit, as they will be losing money. To do this head into Train menu, select the slot, press “A” to Remove Train then ”Y” to sell the train.
When you reach 1 billion, pause the game and then sell off your Convenience Stores. To do this, head into Market menu, press “A” to enter, then LB to scroll to Sell Property. Click Left or Right on D-Pad to find Shops, then press “A” to sell. Watch your funds accumulate and when reach 10 billion, click “B” to exit, then un-pause the game. You should receive a sub-achievement that your funds have reached 10 billion, and you have cleared the map.
ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE
National Conquest 80 G
Clear all included maps.
To clear a map, you must reach 10 billion in funds in that particular map. Do the Money Cheat OR the Convenience Store Cheat above and if you just reached 8 billion, go to the bank and borrow the rest.
To borrow money from the bank, scroll to the Market menu by clicking Left or Right on your D-Pad. Press “A” to enter. Hit LB and you will reach the “Bank” menu with “1-Year Loan” below it. Press “Y” to “Change Loan Amount”. Go to the max which is 1 billion. Press “A” to receive loan. Press “ B” to exit. If your game is on pause, un-pause it.
You will receive a sub-achievement message that your funds have reached 10 billion and credits will start to roll. You will need to clear all eight original maps.
This achievement is glitched. If you have downloaded a custom map, or created a new map before clearing all eight original maps, the achievement will not unlock. You will need delete the custom map and all saved files via Xbox 360 dashboard.
Railway Kingdom 60 G
Total railway assets exceed the total non-railway assets by over 15% when the game is cleared.
Do the Money Cheat above on the map “Clear River and Rice Paddies” until you have just over 8 billion. (You CANNOT do the Convenience Store Cheat to unlock this achievement). Do the “Bullet Train in Service” and “Maglev Train in Service” achievements below on the same Money Cheat saved map and you will receive this achievement.
Make sure you PAUSE the game when you borrow the money then start to build both Bullet Train and Maglev Train lines. Otherwise the game will clear before your trains are built.
Bullet Train in Service 30 G
Complete the bullet train project to open a bullet train line.
To construct a Bullet Train service you need over 600 million. Load your Money Cheat 8 billion saved map of “Clear River and Rice Paddies” then borrow the rest to get to 10 billion. This map is easy to construct a bullet train as there are a lot of open spaces.
Make sure you PAUSE the game when you borrow the money then start to build both Bullet Train and Maglev Train lines. Otherwise your game could clear before your trains are built and you will not receive the “Railway Kingdom” achievement.
Click on your D-Pad to scroll to Projects menu. Press ”A” to enter, then make sure you are on “Bullet Train Mode” Select an open area then press” A” to approve plan. You will get a pop-up message informing you that construction has started.
It takes 128 days for the bullet train service to construct. Make sure you are simming the days quickly by having your Timeline sim the days on fast. To do this, hit RB. You should see the Timeline flash in the top right corner. Use Right on the D-pad to knock it up to fast. press “B” to exit.
The achievement will unlock once the construction is complete.
Maglev Train in Service 60 G
Complete the linear train project to open a Maglev train line.
Same as the “Bullet Train in Service” achievement above except you will need to scroll to the Maglev Train Mode by pressing LB. This train service will cost 10 billion to construct.
Use the SAME Money Cheat saved map with the Bullet Train to unlock the “Railway Kingdom” achievement.
Harmony With Nature 60 G
Blocks of trees exceed 300 when the game is cleared.
Same as the achievement above. Do the Money Cheat above on the map “Clear River and Rice Paddies” Do not build anything else other than the Bullet Train and Maglev Train projects. Just play the stock market and this achievement will pop once the game is cleared.
Great Leap Forward 60 G
Clear the game within five years.
Do the Money Cheat OR the Convenience Store Cheat above on any map.
Railway Microstate 60 G
Total rail length is less than 300 when game is cleared.
You must start on a map where the track length of rail is less than 300. You cannot go to a map and remove rail to make it 300.
Do the Money Cheat above on the map “Mountain Range” or “An Island on Land” Do not build anything. Just play the stock market and this achievement will pop once the game is cleared.
Tube Expansion 30 G
Total length of rails in tunnels exceeds 100.
This is easy. Choose any map.
Click Left or Right on your D-Pad until you scroll to the Rail menu. Press “A” to enter. You should see “Laying Mode” and “Flat Rail” underneath. If not, click LB until you reach it.
Now click Down on your D-Pad until the map turns yellow. Don’t worry. This just indicates you are underground. Press “A” to lay some tracks and “A” again to finish. Do this for about 100 meters and then you need to exit.
To return back to normal view click Up on the D-Pad and press ”B” to exit. If you have paused your game, you may need to un-pause it for the achievement to unlock.
Public Transport King 30 G
Total rail length exceeds 2,000.
Click Left or Right on your D-Pad until you scroll to the Rail menu. Press “A” to enter. You should see “Laying Mode” and “Flat Rail” underneath. If not, click LB until you reach it. Press “A” to lay some tracks and “A” again to finish.
You need to lay about 2000 meters. Just lay them anywhere. This can take about 10 - 20 mins. You will get a sub-achievement once you have laid down about 1000. If you have paused your game, you may need to un-pause it for the achievement to unlock.
Industry Leader 30 G
Total assets exceed 30 billion.
Do the Money Cheat OR the Convenience Store Cheat above. For a quicker way, do the Convenience Store Cheat but build 1000. This way you can pick up some other achievements.
Build a huge materials yard then construct 1000 Convenience Stores around it. You can easily fit 1000 of these stores around a big materials yard, because they are small and cheap. Just lay them close side by side.

Once you start building, around about 300 or so stores you will receive the achievement. You can check what your assets are by clicking Left or Right on the D-Pad until you reach the Report Menu. Press “A” to enter then LB until you reach Balance Sheet. Check the Total Assets.
If you continue to build to 1000 stores you can pick up the “Property Baron” and “Top Taxpayer” achievements by just letting the game continue to sim for another 20 - 30 mins. Once you have received those achievements, sell all your stores back to the city and receive the “City Expansion” achievement.
Factory Head 30 G
Number of factories exceeds 30.
Choose your saved map “Clear River and Rice Paddies” the one with 8 billion (Or 30 billion).
Click Left or Right on your D-Pad until you scroll to the Construction menu. Press “A” to enter. You should see “Construction Mode” and “Factories” underneath. If not click Left on the D-Pad until you reach Factories. Select small factories, Factory(S), with Up or Down on the D-Pad. They are the cheapest.
Press “A” to construct. Do this thirty times for the achievement. If you have paused your game, you may need to un-pause it for the achievement to unlock.
Station Expansion 30 G
Number of stations exceed 30.
Same method as “Factory Head” achievement above. Except head into Station menu and construct 30 Country Stations. There’s no need to attach rail to them and you can build them anywhere.
Leisure Industry Leader 30 G
Number of leisure facilities exceeds 20.
To construct property other than factories or stations, you need to construct a materials yard nearby first. See Convenience Store Cheat at the top of this guide on how to do this.
To construct 20 Leisure facilities , scroll to Construction menu and press “A” to enter. Scroll until you find Leisure and construct AROUND your material yards. I suggest constructing Shrines, as they are relatively cheap and only 21 Materials Used.
Company Expansion 50 G
Number of your properties exceeds 60.
See Convenience Store Cheat at the top of this guide on how to construct a materials yard. Use the saved file and build 60 houses around the materials yard until the achievement unlocks.
Take to the Skies 30 G
Construct an airport.
See Convenience Store Cheat at the top of this guide on how to construct a materials yard. Use the saved file and build an airport next to the material yards. Make sure you let the material yard stock up a lot, as you will need 700 materials to build it.
Head into Construction and scroll until you find Super Structures. Make sure you place the airport in a clear and open space but next to the material yards.
Tourist Trap 50 G
Construct all types of landmarks.
See Convenience Store Cheat at the top of this guide on how to construct a materials yard. You will need a lot of money, so hopefully you have followed my advice and built a materials yard with 100’s Convenience Stores around it. Sell the stores until you get 30 billion in funds, head into Construction and find Landmarks. Start building around the materials yard. You do not need to remove the Convenience stores as they will be removed automatically when you place a landmark over it. There are 12 landmarks that need to be built.
This is also slightly time consuming as you have to wait until your materials stock up, as some them require a lot of materials. You can see how much materials you need as there is an indicator underneath the revolving image.
DO NOT remove or sell any of your landmarks once they are built or the achievement will not unlock. They all have to be owned and exist at the same time.
Port of Call 10 G
Construct a port.
The easiest way I found to do this quickly was to find a map with a port and a materials yard already next to it. Place a goods train on the rail, let the materials build up, then construct the port.
A good map is “A Harbour Town on a Gulf” . There’s a port right at the start. Load the map , pause the game, then head into Station menu then hit LB to enter removal mode. You need to remove the Elevated Station next to the bridge, and replace it with a two platform Marshaling Yard. Hit LB again to enter Construction Mode and construct a Marshaling Yard. Make sure the rails line up.
Once you have replaced it with a Marshaling Yard, press “B” to exit. Place your yellow selection box over the station, and enter Station Settings by pressing “X”. Scroll down and “Load and Unload” and CHANGE it to “Unload” only. Press “B” to exit.
Make sure your time lapse is set to the fastest. Click RB once and you should see the flashing Timeline. Use the D-Pad to set the time to fast. Press “B” to exit.
Un-pause the game, and the materials should build up. You only need 64 materials to build a port. Select Construction, then Super Structures. Click Up or Down on the D-Pad to find Port. You may need to position it at right angles of the materials yard and close to the water. You will know when you have a good position when the selection box turns yellow.
Top Trader 40 G
Share trading profits exceed 10 billion.
Do the Money Cheat at the top of this guide. Keep trading until you have reached over 10 billion and this achievement will unlock.
Sign of Success 40 G
Bank interest paid exceeds 500 million.
Easy. Load your 8 billion map and take out loans from the bank and repay them straight away. Do this until you reach 500 million in interest payments.
To borrow money from the bank, scroll to the Market menu by clicking Left or Right on your D-Pad. Press “A” to enter. Hit LB and you will reach the “Bank” menu with “1-Year Loan” below it. Press “Y” to “Change Loan Amount”. Go to the max which is 1 billion. Press “A” to receive loan. Press “A “ again to repay it. Keep repeating until the achievements unlocks.
Property Baron 40 G
Profits from property exceed 20 billion.
The easiest way to get this quickly is use your saved map with the huge materials yard. Build 1000 Convenience stores around the materials yard and profits from should exceed 20 billion if you let the game sim for 20 - 30 minutes.
To check your profit, head into the Report menu. Click “A” to enter, then LB until you scroll to Management Info. The “Subs. Profit / Year” will be profit from property. This needs to exceed 20 billion.
Top Taxpayer 40 G
Taxes paid exceed 10 billion.
You should get this while doing the “Property Baron” achievement. Around about April you will pay Income Tax and soon after Property Tax. With 1000 Convenience stores you will easily pay that amount in taxes. After you have paid the Property Tax, the achievement will unlock.
City Expansion 50 G
Number of other companies properties exceeds 1000.
After building 1000 Convenience Stores , sell them all back to the city. You do this by entering the Market menu. Hit LB until you reach
Sell Property. Use Left or Right on the D-Pad to find Shops, then press “A” to sell them.
Once you have sold them all, the achievement will unlock.
City Expansion 30 G
City population exceeds 100,000.
You could just let a map you have cleared, sim for a long time, although I have never tried it. But the quickest and easiest way is to build a couple of huge material yards then construct over 150 “Flat 5” flats around them. As soon as you lay down the flats, the population will start to rise.
Subway Mall Expansion 30 G
Number of underground malls exceeds 100.
This is the hardest achievement in the game, as you have to plan and build a lot !
The aim is to build a subway station around an area with population. Once you have completed it and supplied it with a materials yard, a goods train and a tube train, let the game sim and eventually a Subway Mall will start to appear behind it. They appear two at a time to a maximum of 16 on a fully built tube station. So you will need to build 7 tube stations to unlock the achievement.
Choose a map with a decent population and at least 10 -15 billion in funds. I personally chose “Clear River and Rice Paddies’. Hopefully you have saved a map with 10 billion already banked. You will need a bit of money because the Tube Stations are at least 600 million and you will need 7 of them.
Build a materials yard next to some factories on ground level. Create a single marshaling yard next to the materials yard, then direct the rail track towards an area with population, then let the track stop short. Don’t worry, it will be heading underground shortly.
Head into the Cutaway menu by Clicking RB twice. Click A to enable Cutaway then click down once on your D-Pad until your screen turns yellow. This means your underground. Press “B“ to exit.
Head into the Station menu and construct a Tube Station. You will need to construct at least 3 platforms. Ensure that the front of the tube has plenty of room (yellow space) for the malls to fit. The front of the station has turnstiles at a gate. If you can’t see, use RT to zoom. Opposite the front gate, create a large materials yard, also underground.
On the first two tracks, nearest to the gate, lay down some rail and head back above ground. To direct rail above ground, choose an inclined rail. Hit RB twice, then Up on the D-Pad to change your view to ground level again. Click “B” to exit Cutaway. Direct your two tracks coming out of the ground into a populated area and create an Elevated Station. Place a passenger train on the two tracks .
On the third rail from the Tube Station (click RB to change view back underground) and direct this rail back over-ground to your materials yard you created earlier and place a goods train.
You should have now two passenger trains and a goods heading into your Tube station. The goods train should be depositing materials onto the material yard opposite the Tube Station underground. Make sure the Tube Station setting is set to “Unload” only.
Let the game sim and after a while, once the material yard gets full, and if your Tube Station is placed below a populated area, a Subway Mall should start to appear. They appear like little black boxes with shop fronts. They can take up from 5 mins to 20 mins to appear. It all depends on the population above.
Once they start to appear, build another six Tube Stations with materials yards, along the same track, always heading into populated areas. If for some reason, you cannot build below a populated area, you may need to build shops and flats above to increase the population.
Once six and a bit Tube Stations are built with malls, the achievement should unlock.
