DefaultBass Pro Shops: The Strike Achievement Guide & Direction-ary

Time To 1000 - 8-10 Hours
Ease Of Game - 2/10 (Very Easy)
Number Of Playthroughs Required - 1
Total Number Of People Needed To Boost Online Achievements - no online achievements

Bass Pro Shops: The Strike is a fishing simulator game released by Psyclone in 2009. It was released with the tag line: "111 Bass Pro Shops lures, 11 species of fish, 10 unique lakes, 10 tournaments, 9 awesome boasts, 1 heck of a good time". Sadly, they must have run out of time to add "1 heck of a good time" before the game's release date. Like most fishing games, this is very short and easy but extremely boring and repetetive

This game was released in a bundle with a Wii-like fishing controller, but fortunately that is not required to play the game. A simple 360 controller will suffice just fine

Getting Started
01. Start up a new game. First you'll have to create and name your character, make it as handsome or pretty as you can, you'll be staring at its face a LOT during the endless unskipabble fish catching scenes you are about to see

02. Next you will be asked to select your difficulty, choose ARCADE. This will make fish catching very easy and quicker

03. Choose Career, and then Lake Amistad

04. Choose Equipment and buy this item:

Lines - Flurocarbon Line -17LB

This is the strongest fishing line in the game and will ensure a lot less fish can break it and escape you while you're trying to catch them

05. Start fishing, where you will start the gameplay tutorial. Pay attention, as it will teach you how to do a perfect cast. It's very easy to do, and upon nailing your first one you will unlock:

Perfect Cast (20g) - Completed a perfect cast

Upon hitting nine more perfect casts you will unlock:

Perfectionist (50g) - Completed 10 perfect casts

06. Your default lure is the Soft Plastics Squirmin' Worm 6' Green Pumpkinseed, which you will use for the majority of the game. Make sure you equip your 17lb fishing line before you begin fishing

07. One of the most important things in the game isn't even mentioned in the tutorial, press "UP" on your D-Pad to activate the Fish Finder. This will make red dots appear all over the map, each dot is a spot where you can find fish to catch

08. In order to advance in the game and enter tournaments, you have to earn a set amount of Reputation Points, you do this by catching fish. The bigger the fish, the more points you earn. Upon earning the required amount of points, the game will ask if you want to begin the tournament. Say no, you have more work to do on this lake

09. Every lake has five Exploration Points to find, which are marked by two floating barrels that you have to sail between to make them light up. They are all very easy to find, always located around the border of the map. Simply sail along the lake's shore to find them all, once you have return to the store and then begin the tournament

10. In the tournament, you have twenty minutes to catch the five biggest fish of whatever species the game asks for. You are up against three A.I. opponents, but since you're playing on Arcade Difficulty you don't have to worry about them. Find a fishing spot and keep catching fish until you are in first place. When there is two minutes remaining, the game will warn you to return to your starting dock or else you'll be docked points for each minute you don't return. Upon winning the tournament you will unlock the next lake as well as:

Lake Ouachita Unlocked (20g) - Lake Ouachita Unlocked

11. Whatever spot you choose to fish in for this lake, I heavily recommend making a note of it. Later on in the game you will be revisiting this lake, only you won't have your Fish Finder to find the spots for you, so writing down where you fish now will make things much easier for you later on

Lake Ouachita
01. Just like Lake Amistad, you will have to catch enough fish to earn enough Reputation Points to start the next tournament, however from this lake onward there is a new addition. Every lake will now have a Legendary Fish you need to catch. This is not required for the game but is required for an achievement

02. The Legendary Fish of this lake is a striped bass nicknamed "The Monster". While you are in the store buy this item:

Lures - Swim Bait - XPS Swim Bait - Golden Shiner

This will lure The Monster better than your soft plastic lure. The Legendary Fish in this game are always in the same location, and the Monster can be found here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...Ouachita01.jpg

You can usually recognize a Legendary Fish by sight because they are larger than most fish. However a guarantee that you've caught one is when they bite your hook, golden sparks will shoot out of their mouth for a few seconds

NOTE: If after you've hooked the fish it starts glowing white sparks, this is not a Legendary Fish but rather a Reward Fish. Catching these fish will earn you either extra Reputation Points, money, or a new lure

03. After you have caught the Monster and other fish to hit the Reputation Points threshold, decline the tournament and find your five Exploration Points. Then return to the store and win the tournament to unlock the next lake and:

Lake Fork Unlocked (20g) - Lake Fork Unlocked

Lake Fork
01. Let the repetition begin. Every lake will now follow this pattern:
  • Catch the Legendary Fish
  • Earn the required amount of Reputation Points
  • Decline the tournament and find the five Exploration Points
  • Return to the store and start the tournament
  • Win the tournament to unlock the next lake

02. The Legendary Fish of this lake is a white crappie nicknamed "Casper". While you are in the store buy this item to catch him:

Lures - Tube Bait - Pearl/Silver Flake

Casper can be found here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...ake_Fork01.jpg

03. Upon winning the tournament you will unlock the next lake and:

Lake Wylie Unlocked (20g) - Lake Wylie Unlocked

04. This is the second lake you will revisit later on without your Fish Finder. Just like Lake Amistad, make a note of where you caught your fish

Lake Wylie
01. The Legendary Fish of this lake is a catfish nicknamed "Levi". While you are in the store buy this item to catch him:

Lures - Soft Plastics - Drop Shot Worm - Albino Shad

Levi can be found here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...ke_Wylie01.jpg

02. Upon winning the tournament you will unlock the next lake and:

Lake Guntersville Unlocked (20g) - Lake Guntersville Unlocked

Lake Guntersville
NOTE: By this point you should have earned enough money to buy this item from the shop:

Rods - Tourney Special IM-7 Graphite Rods - Spinning 6'6"

This is the best fishing rod in the game and will make catching fish even easier. It can also cast a lot further than your starting rod, you can use it to nail a cast over 135 feet for the achievement:

Brilliant Cast (50g) - Casted a line over 135 feet

01. The Legendary Fish of this lake is a black crappie nicknamed "Hubs". Use your Pearl/Silver Flake Tube Bait to land him. He can be found here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...ersville01.jpg

02. Upon winning the tournament you will unlock the next lake and:

Lake Champlain Unlocked (20g) - Lake Champlain Unlocked

Lake Champlain
01. The Legendary Fish of this lake is a walleye nicknamed "Wallie". While you are in the store buy this item to catch him:

Lures - Spoon - XPS Freestyle Jig - Chrome

Wallie can be found here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...hamplain01.jpg

02. Upon winning the tournament you will unlock the next lake and:

Lake Oneida Unlocked (20g) - Lake Oneida Unlocked

03. This is the third lake you will revisit later on without your Fish Finder. Just like before, make a note of where you caught your fish

Lake Oneida
NOTE: While you are earning Reputation Points on this lake, you will earn a lifetime score of 500 which will unlock:

Renowned (50g) - Earned 500 reputation points in career mode

You should also be very close at this point to having caught a total of 1,000 pounds of fish, which will earn you:

What a Haul (50g) - Caught 1000 lbs of fish

01. This lake is a slight change to your repetition as it has two Legendary Fish to catch. The first is a northern pike nicknamed "Striker". Use your Albino Shad dropshot to catch him, and find him here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...trikerpike.jpg

02. Second is a muskie nicknamed "Goliath". Use the Golden Shiner swim bait to catch him, and find him here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...iathmuskie.jpg

03. Upon winning the tournament you will unlock the next lake and:

Lake Pickwick Unlocked (20g) - Lake Pickwick Unlocked

04. This is the fourth lake you will revisit later on without your Fish Finder. Just like before, make a note of where you caught your fish

Lake Pickwick
01. The Legendary Fish of this lake is a small mouth bass nicknamed "The Captain". Your default Soft Plastics worm will be enough to catch him. You can find him here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...Pickwick01.jpg

02. Upon winning the tournament you will unlock the next lake and:

Lake Toho Unlocked (20g) - Lake Toho Unlocked

Lake Toho
01. The Legendary Fish of this lake is a large mouth bass nicknamed "The Mouth". Your defeault Soft Plastics worm will be enough to catch him. You can find him here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...ake_Toho01.jpg

02. Upon winning the tournament you will unlock the next lake and:

Table Rock Lake Unlocked (20g) - Table Rock Lake Unlocked

Table Rock Lake
NOTE: While you are catching fish to earn Reputation Points on this lake, you should be close to catching your 200th fish. Upon doing so you will unlock:

Experienced Angler (100g) - Caught 200 fish

01. The final Legendary Fish of this lake is a Kentucky spotted bass nicknamed "Tucky Blue". Use the Albino Shad dropshot to catch her, and find her here:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...ableRock01.jpg

Upon catching her you will unlock:

Legendary Angler (100g) - Caught all legendary fish

02. After you have found the final Exploration Point you will have found all fifty and unlock:

Intrepid Explorer (50g) - Located all 50 exploration points

03. Upon winning the tournament you will complete the lake tournaments and unlock:

First Season Complete (100g) - Completed the first season

04. This is the fifth and last lake you will revisit later on without your Fish Finder. Just like before, make a note of where you caught your fish

Bass Pro Shops Invitational Tournaments
01. Unfortunately you're not quite done with career mode yet. Over the course of the game you will have noticed a grayed out section from the Main Menu screen called Invitational. Now that you've won all ten tournaments it is now selectable, do so

02. You will have to win five more tournaments, identical to the previous ones only with a major plus and a minus. The plus is you no longer have to earn Reputation Points to begin the tournament, the minus is your Fish Finder no longer works so you won't have the red dot assistance to find fish anymore. However if you noted your fishing points previously as suggested, this won't be a problem as the lakes' fish locations are identical

03. Upon winning the Invitational tournaments for Lakes Amistad, Fork, Oneida, Champlain, and Table Rock you will unlock:

BPS Invitational Challenge (100g) - Completed all 5 Bass Pro Shops invitational tournaments

Challenges
01. Now for the REALLY boring and repetitive part of the game, in case you thought what you've done already wasn't bad enough. You will have noticed you don't earn much money from winning tournaments, after you've completed them all you will be lucky if you've earned $600, which is a far cry from the $2,000 you need for the achievement. This means you'll have to grind out the same fishing challenge over and over (and over) again. From the main menu select Challenges, choose 1 Player, and select the Lake Oneida Casting Contest

02. This contest requires you to cast your lure through six rings in the water in under 1:30. The faster you can do this the more money you will earn, but even so the max you can earn in $25 a contest. Once you get the hang of it, you should be able to earn at least $23 every minute or so. Upon hitting all six circles in a challenge you will unlock:

Casting Champion (50g) - Achieved a perfect score in a Casting Challenge mini game

03. Keep repeating the Lake Oneida challenge until you've unlocked the achievements:

Money Bags (50g) - Accumulate a total of $1000
Filthy Rich (50g) - Accumulated a total of $2000

Congratulations! You have now ground out Bass Pro Shops: The Strike for 1000 Gamerscore Points!

I don't mind fishing games even though they can be tedious. You can't go wrong with a game that is 2/10 in 8-10 hours

Thanks YouStayClassy. Will post to main site.
