Tactics

This game can be completed in about five hours and a very easy 1000 points. There are slightly two annoying “boss” fights, but there is an easy cheat for one of them.

Make sure when you reach the Rival Hunts (boss fights) and Trophy Hunts, that you complete the achievement for them before continuing. Otherwise if you missed the achievement, you will have to start the whole Career Mode from the beginning, because there is no mission select after you have completed the game.

If you fail an achievement, you just need to quickly reload the last checkpoint and try again. Use the “Complete All Hunts” achievement list of objectives, as a basic walkthrough. It might be helpful to read this guide carefully before starting the game, so you understand what needs to be done.

ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE

Handgun Excellence 15 G

Player must hunt 20 small game animals with any handgun in the course of completing the Career mode.

The easiest place to do this is when you reach New Zealand Fall, Level 8. Right at the beginning there is a mini game where you need to shoot weasels. Complete the mini game as normal, then STAY in the tripod. The weasels continue re-spawning. Click Right Stick and select a handgun. The 357 with a scope is the easiest. You will need to click LEFT on the D-Pad to select your handgun (secondary weapon). A good tip is to wait until the weasels have stopped, before firing.

Once you have shot 20, STAY in the tripod and switch your weapons to a Crossbow and Muzzleloader to complete the achievements for them.

Crossbow Excellence 30 G

15 small game animals must be hunted with the crossbow in the course of completing the Career mode.

Muzzleloader Excellence 45 G

Hunt 10 small game animals with the muzzleloader in the course of completing the Career mode.

Accuracy 50 10 G

Accuracy must be over 50% in any season.

All these accuracy achievements are stackable and can be achieved easily on the first level, Montana Fall. Just take your time and mind your shots. Don’t miss! If you do, just reload the last checkpoint.

There is a duck mini-game that might make 90% tricky at first. However if you don’t unlock 90 % first time through, just complete the game and start a New Career. Replay the first level, Montana Fall, but just avoid the duck mini game, as it is optional. Then you only have to shoot 5 big animals for the 90 % achievement to unlock.

Accuracy 70 15 G

Accuracy must be over 70% in any season.

Accuracy 90 20 G

Accuracy must be over 90% in any season.

Climbing the Cliff 5 G

Must not lose your grip and fall from a handhold on the first climb in Montana Fall.

Once you have completed the duck mini-game, you will have to climb a cliff. Bash the corresponding buttons when prompted, until the circle bar fills. It is X, B, X, B, B, X, B, X, B. DO NOT FALL. You cannot reload the last checkpoint. You will need to restart the map!

Cross the Log 5 G

The Player must cross the log without falling on the first log in Montana Fall.

After you have shot your Trophy Buck, you will need to cross a log to get to the Trophy Buck. You need to bash “X” (steadily) if he is leaning right and bash “B” if he is leaning left. Dont push anything if he is standing upright. DO NOT FALL. You cannot reload the last checkpoint. You will need to restart the map!

Long Shot 15 G

The first animal shot at a distance between 100 and 150 yards.

The easiest place I found to do this was in the first level. After you shoot a Mule Deer from a tree stand, head left of the map, towards the river. Turn around and use your scope to find an animal. In the bottom left of your scope, it will inform you what the distance is. There is usually a couple of elk sitting there about 100 - 150 yards and one sitting in the distance on the hill about 200 yards away.

If you have trouble finding them, press RB for Hunter Sense (a bit like Spidey Sense) and it will highlight any animals.

Super Long Shot 30 G

The first animal shot at a distance between 150 and 200 yards.

See “Long Shot” achievement above.

Extreme Long Shot 40 G

The first animal hit at a distance over 200 yards away.

Some people have said they have found Kudu in Level 5, Ethiopia Spring, over 200 yards to shoot. Use you Spidey Sense (hit RB) ...sorry Hunter Sense to track them. Then your scope to get the distance.

I personally never found any Kudu to shoot at that distance. Eventually I got fed up, used my Hunter Sense, saw a bird in the distance and shot that.

Eagle Eye Shot 50 G

The first animal shot at a distance over 75 yards away. Player must not shoot from Scope mode.

Just shoot any animal over 75 yards without a scope. I actually scoped an elk then quickly took the scope away. A red target appeared on the elk, then I shot it. A lot of people also said they received this at the first duck of the duck mini-game on the first level.

No Scope Excellence 20 G

Player must hunt all objective animals while never shooting from Scope Mode in any session.

Basically you have to do a level without using your scope. You can do this on Level 7, Ethiopia Summer. You are told only to use a crossbow. Do the whole entire level with just the crossbow, including the Leopard at the end.

I personally unlocked this on an Instant Hunt, Montana Fall, just using a crossbow.

Ecological Friendly 20 G

Complete an entire season without shooting any animals outside of an objective.

I recommend the first level for this, but it is possible on other levels. Just shoot objective animals. If you have trouble spotting the Trophy animal, use your scope first and it will inform you on the left hand corner if it is a Trophy animal. If you shoot a non trophy animal, the achievement will not unlock.

Dodge Master 10 G

The player must dodge 10 attacks at any time during any of the Rival Animal Hunts.

You need to press either “X” or “B” to dodge any Rival animal attacking. You will be prompted which to press a second before the animal attacks.

For the easiest animal to dodge for this achievement, I found the Boar on Level 9. You need to dodge him anyway for the Wild Boar Rival Hunt achievement, so you may as well dodge him ten times. He is pretty slow. If you do get hit, just reload the last checkpoint.
