DefaultJust Cause 2.

Hi all, yeah I am still around, 360 has died again, HDD making clicking sounds only 4 months old, have called M$ about it, hopefully fixed soon. Funny thing is that the Ps3 HDD died not long ago either, but that was the original 60GB HDD at launch when I brought the Ps3, its over 3 years old now. No hassle though as I replaced it with a 320GB HDD just over a year ago.

Anyways, I have this game on Ps3 and brother has it on 360, best thing about having both consoles can swap between both whenever we want, the Trophies/Achievements are the same so I feel another guide coming on, this game easily fits into the time consuming category, 40+ hours, you would probably come close to 100 hours to complete 1,000G.

But first, some tips for you:

If you can, play the game on Hardcore so you can unlock the difficulty Achievements in one playthrough instead of 2 - 3 as they are stackable.

To do this, use cover all the time, do not go in all guns blazing through the front door as you will DIE. Go around the side or back of a building and grapple upto the rooftops, that is what your grapple hook is for along with other things. Run around and look for health packs "+" to recover your health fast if needed, even hide if you have to for a time, also do not be scared to run away to recover if you have to, use your grappling hook to "sling-shot" yourself to safety faster then you can run.

Keep MOVING, a moving target is harder to hit then a stationary target!

Upgrade your health as soon as your start, drive around the main highway, at each of the intersections with small bridges there are 'Armour' resource pickups at the base of the supports, each 5 pickups will upgrade your total health.

Be sneaky too, while you are doing the settlements, go around collecting the resource pickups first BEFORE you start blowing stuff up or destroying stuff, not to draw heat, once you have everything, blow stuff up. One strategy, run around a few settlements and collect all resource pickups, then blow something up to get heat and attract a Heli, hijack it then use it to blow up everything else left in the settlements, fly away to lose the heat.

I call Karl Blaine's house my starting and save point, this is where you end up after the second mission is complete. Health is available if needed and boat for transport.

Easy to get Heli or Plane: just south or down the map (I think, compass would be nice) there is 3 settlements, but then there is a Military Airport (Kampung Tujuh Telaga it is called), here a Heli can be found near the edge of the base, the Plane appears in the 'shed' to the left of the Heli. But not if you are too close, grapple up to the roof of the building about halfway down the landing strip/runway and wait for it to appear, grapple to it and enter (or course this is not counted as a 'hijack' worse luck).

Right now, the important stuff, Achievements.

Welcome to Panau - 10G

Complete Story Mission 1.

See the A Just Cause Achievement for information.

Casino Bust - 20G

Complete Story Mission 2.

See the A Just Cause Achievement for information.

The White Tiger - 30G

Complete Story Mission 3.

See the A Just Cause Achievement for information.

Mountain Rescue - 40G

Complete Story Mission 4.

See the A Just Cause Achievement for information.

Three Kings - 50G

Complete Story Mission 5.

See the A Just Cause Achievement for information.

Into the Den - 60G

Complete Story Mission 6.

See the A Just Cause Achievement for information.

A Just Cause - 70G

Complete Story Mission 7.

There is not much I can really say about these, all will come through the main story missions, the first 2 are unlocked straight away, but the rest require you to cause 'chaos' to unlock, do this by blowing stuff up (government stuff marked with the white Panau star), completing faction missions, completing settlements, exception is mission 7, it will start straight after mission 6, check your PDA in the bottom right corner, the bars indicate how close you are to the next lot of stuff unlocking.

Top Agent - 20G

Bonus for completing the game on Normal difficulty.

See the Legendary Agent Achievement for information.

Heroic Agent - 30G

Bonus for completing the game on Experienced difficulty.

See the Legendary Agent Achievement for information.

Legendary Agent - 40G

Bonus for completing the game on Hardcore difficulty.

There is not much I can really say about these either, as I said above, try to complete the game on hardcore first playthrough to unlock all these in one go, but if you find that you are having problems, complete first on normal (default) and get all the Achievements you can, then jump to hardcore and only do what you really have to for completion of the game.

Gaining a Foothold - 10G

Complete 3 stronghold takeovers.

After you have finished the first 2 story missions you have to gain trust with the 3 factions in Panau, the first mission for each just happens to be a stronghold takeover.

Conqueror of Panau - 20G

Complete 9 stronghold takeovers.

There are 9 stronghold takeovers in all, 3 for each faction, works like the story missions, cause 'chaos' to unlock the next takeover, check your PDA bottom right corner will tell you how close you are.

A Trusted Ally - 20G

Complete 49 faction missions.

Guess what? Yep, there are 49 faction missions in total, probably will not get them all done before completing the story, so finish them off in what's called Mercenary mode.

First Taste of Chaos - 10G

Cause chaos for the first time.

Easy, probably get this in the first story mission, blow up anything with the white Panau star on it.

Saboteur - 10G

Complete 150 sabotages.

See the Destroyer Achievement for information.

Destroyer - 20G

Complete 1000 sabotages.

Do not be tricked by the word 'sabotages' in these 2 Achievements, you do not have to do anything special, just blow up anything that has the white Panau star on it counts towards this. Also keep your eyes open for fuel stations along the roads as your driving/flying around, they can be easily missed.

Professional Hitman - 20G

Assassinate 25 colonels.

You can find these guys in certain locations around the map, they usually have a few elites around them too for protection, sniper rifle comes in handy here, or if you have a Heli gunship is even better. Be warned though, killing them causes your heat level to rise, like fast! There is 50 Colonels in all, so you only need to kill half of them, an icon will appear when you are getting close.

Up to the Challenge 1 - 10G

Complete 10 challenges.

See the Up to the Challenge 2 Achievement for information.

Up to the Challenge 2 - 20G

Complete 50 challenges.

There are Car, Boat, Plane and Parachute (base jumping) time challenges to complete, they will unlock after you have completed faction missions, mostly the Parachute (base jumping) ones are the trickiest. All are rated 1 - 3 stars, 1 star is easy and 3 stars is hardest, for the most part, do not crash or miss a checkpoint and you should not have any real problems finishing them.

Finders Keepers - 15G

Collect 100 resource items.

See the Leaving No Rock Unturned Achievement for information.

Leaving No Rock Unturned - 25G

Collect 1000 resource items.

You may think OH MY GOD, collect 1,000 resource items, but actually pretty easy, there are over 2,500 resource items to collect around the map in total, so it will come without even trying. When you come close to a resource item, a small signal bar will appear on your map in the top left corner, once you are right near the item, the signal will flash and a white arrow appears pointing if its off the screen, again, an icon will appear.

Faction Benefactor - 20G

Collect 150 faction items.

This one and the Try Anything Once Achievements are probably the most time consuming in the game, open your PDA and look at your map, the Blue/Green (think they are green on the 360, blue on the Ps3) dots around the map, it could be a Skull, Drug Drop or a Black Box (usually in or near water). There is about 300 in total, so find half of them.

Globetrotter - 20G

Discover 100 locations.

All locations are on the map already as "undiscovered settlement" and a yellow dot, go grab the easy plane and fly over the yellow dots to discover them, if they do not show as discovered, you may have to fly a little lower as I found, anyway, after the 100th one this will pop.

Freeroamer 1 - 10G

Reach 100% complete in 15 locations.

See the Freeroamer 2 Achievement for information.

Freeroamer 2 - 20G

Reach 100% complete in 100 locations.

All locations, or should I say settlements, have a certain number of objects to blow up and resource items to collect for 100% complete, naturally military bases and strongholds are the hardest, do the smaller towns first, there are over 300 locations so should not be any problems. Remember the tip, run around and collect the resource items first, then blow stuff up.

Body Count - 15G

Kill 750 enemies.

This will come just playing your way through the game without even trying, in the first 20 hours of play easily.

Unarmed and Dangerous - 15G

Kill 50 enemies using melee attacks.

Can be a little tricky as you are usually outnumbered by a group of enemies, knock their numbers down to something more manageable, then get up close and personal (press 'B').

Gravity is a Bitch! - 15G

Kill 30 enemies by using the grappling hook and making them fall to their death.

Again can be a little tricky, if enemies are in towers or anywhere that is high up, stick them with the grappling hook (press 'LB') and he will pull them down to the ground and death.

Follow Me! - 15G

Kill 5 enemies by dragging them behind a vehicle with the grappling hook.

Again can be a little tricky, target an enemy, press 'LB' and hold, now target a car and release 'LB' to attach the enemy to the car, now quickly jump into the car and drive. Can be done by target the car first then the enemy, either way works, if enemy does not die, run over them, they are 'attached' to the car so it is a drag kill.

Hang 'em High! - 15G

Kill 30 enemies while they're suspended in the air with the grappling hook.

Again can be a little tricky, basically close to the same as above, except target a high wall instead of a car. Target an enemy, press 'LB' and hold, now target a high wall and release 'LB' to attach the enemy to the wall, now whip out your gun and shoot them.

Wrecking Ball - 15G

Kill 5 enemies by smashing them with an object tethered to your vehicle with the grappling hook.

Ok now this is tricky, easiest way, attach a car to a Heli, go grab the easy Heli I told you about, land it at Karl Blaine's house as there is usually a car there (if not find another car), target the car and press 'LB' and hold then target the Heli and release 'LB' to attach. Controlling the cars 'swaying' is the hardest thing here, lower yourself so the car is a little off the ground, line up and enemy and smash him with it, or have the enemy below the car and lower it onto him. Either way, heat if you are seen.

Piñata Party - 15G

Kill 5 enemies with the melee attack while they're suspended with the grappling hook.

This is actually the same as Hang 'em High! Achievement, but instead of killing with your gun, kill them with a melee attack. Target an enemy, press 'LB' and hold, now target a high wall and release 'LB' to attach the enemy to the wall, now run in and smash them with melee attack. Can be a little tricky.

Juggler - 15G

Kill 30 enemies while they're in mid air.

Tricky as well, stick an enemy with the grappling hook (press 'LB') and he will pull them through the air, quickly shoot and kill them. Upgraded weapons will make this easier as you progress through the game, like the revolver, fully upgraded it will take out just about everything in one shot.

Road Rage - 10G

Kill 30 enemies by mowing them down with vehicles.

Yep, road rage at its best, while in a car run over enemies, just keep your heat level in check while doing this.

Marksman - 15G

Kill 50 enemies with head shots.

Seriously, you will probably get this without even trying, or using a sniper rifle, I got this by using the assault rifle and the SMG while doing faction missions and settlements.

Killing Frenzy - 20G

Kill 20 enemies in 60 seconds.

Again, you will probably get this while doing faction missions, when you protect the technician at the end, waves of enemies will come at you. The 'Holy Smoke' mission for the Ular Boys is a good one, save your game first, if you miss out then reload and try again. Note: you can use any weapon, so pickup a minigun for unlimited ammo!

Invincible Warrior - 20G

Kill 50 enemies in a row with inventory weapons without losing health.

Once again, you will probably get this while doing faction missions, when you protect the technician at the end, waves of enemies will come at you. The 'Oil for Blood' mission for the Roaches is a good one, same deal, save your game first, if you miss out then reload and try again. Stay back a little behind the guys your protecting to be out of the firing range.

Note: you must use inventory weapons! so DO NOT pickup a minigun, make sure you have full ammo for the SMG and Assault Rifle, upgraded helps too.

Another sneaky way is to get the sniper rifle and find a nice hidden spot near an enemy base and sniper a few, watch your heat level, move away to another base, sniper a few, then move to another base, repeat. There is no time limit, you just have to kill 50 one after the other without taking damage yourself.

Destruction Frenzy - 10G

Destroy 30 objects in 60 seconds.

Umm, yeah, could get within the first or second missions, but as your doing faction missions, completing settlements, you will get this easily without trying too hard.

Test Driver - 10G

Drive 30 different vehicles.

See the Trying Everything Once Achievement for information.

Trying Everything Once - 25G

Drive all 104 vehicles.

Yep, drive every vehicle in the game, cars, boats, bikes, planes... Everything. If you have the DLC then these vehicles count towards this as well, just costs money to buy. As I said before, this is one of the most time consuming.

Road Trip - 20G

Travel 75 kilometers by land vehicle.

You will probably get this easily by driving around looking for 'Armour' resource pickups upgrading your health. Team this one up with the next one.

Stunt Driver - 10G

Get 100 stunt driver points.

I used the ‘Chevalier Ice Breaker’ from the free DLC and drove around at high speed, 1 stunt point for every 5 seconds, plus you get a point for a jump, flying low in a plane and bridge limbo (flying under a low bridge).

Please Step Out of the Vehicle - 10G

Hijack 50 enemy vehicles.

Please step out of the vehicle sir, or should I say get out of the vehicle as I want it thankyou. Anyway, you will probably get this easily by hijacking enemy Helis throughout the game, as your heat level rises they will send Helis for you to hijack, well (try to) attack you first. Grapple to the Heli, enter, then complete the button sequence mini-game for a hijack. Note: the gunner or passenger must be killed first!

Parachute Climber - 10G

Open the parachute and then land on foot 300 meters above the starting height.

The idea is pretty simple, but actually doing this takes some practise. Shoot your grappling hook at the ground ahead as you are pulled towards it a "open parachute" message appears, open your parachute then quickly aim somewhere higher and shoot your grappling hook again. Now maneuver yourself past the grappling hook to continue your trip upwards, aim somewhere higher again and shoot your grappling hook to repeat the trip upwards. You can use trees, buildings, bridges, the slope of a mountain, start off small and practise.

I Believe I Can Fly - 10G

Base jump 1000 meters.

There is a few ways you can do this, first is to use the balloon, located around X:7348 - Y:16144, place a waypoint then use the balloon to rise into the air, further you rise the waypoint gets further away letting you know how high you are. Once you are over 1 - 1.5km (1km = 1,000 meters) jump out, after 1,000 meters open your parachute to land.

Second way, goto the 'Mile High Club' located around X:29584 - Y:11435, use a Heli easier, land on top of the balloons supporting it, now just jump off. This is 1 mile high, that's 1.6km (1,600 meters), so you will easily get the 1,000 meters needed. Note: be good idea to complete this settlement BEFORE you jump off, you will not have to come back again that way, land on the Heli pad, collect the resource items, blow up the 2 objects then do the base jump.

Also remember too, you must JUMP, not just FALL, or it will not be considered a Base Jump.

Bridge Limbo - 20G

Fly an airplane under 30 unique bridges in Panau.

Pretty simple, there are over 60 bridges around Panau, go grab the easy plane to told you about and fly under 30 of them, cannot be the same one of course, but you will get it pretty quickly and easily.

Stunt Flyer - 10G

Fly an airplane close to the ground for 30 seconds.

You can do this one at the same time as Bridge Limbo, go grab the easy plane I told about, now fly low and close to the waters edge, or use one of the rivers that make their way through the islands.

Halfway there - 25G

Reach 50% completion in the normal mode or mercenary mode.

See the Perfectionist Achievement for information.

Perfectionist - 25G

Reach 75% completion in the normal mode or mercenary mode.

Time consuming, very time consuming, everything you do adds to the overall completion, completing settlements, completing faction missions and story missions, finding resource items and faction items, completing challenges. Just keep playing the game, I am at about 15% with about 23 hours on the clock... Good luck.

Top of the World - 10G

Stand on foot on the highest point of Panau.

Ok, look towards the health packs at the starting point (south) then look left, there is a big mountain range, open your PDA there is a military base in a 'crescent moon' shape formation with another military base on the other side. The location you want is X:20541 - Y:11836, land a Heli a little further down the mountain and climb the rest of the way on foot, you have to be on foot, there is a unmarked Skull up here too. You will know when you are at the right spot, funny saying awaits.

That's it, this game nearly borders on extreme, mostly due to the fact that there are 50 Achievements to unlock, but it is saved as they are pretty easy to get, just a little time consuming or tricky for the most part. Mercenary mode is just simply what the game calls what happens after you have finished the story missions, you can continue and finish faction missions, challenges, settlements and collecting resource/faction items.

Where I have given the coordinates are the best I can get, the games controls in the PDA are a little sensitive and move too quickly. Also you can keep track of how many kills and other things you have done by viewing your stats in the PDA to see what you are missing.

If this game had multiplayer/co-op it would be brilliant, the only thing it is lacking.

Hope you find this helpful...

Good to see you back and again another excellent guide!

I didn't mind the first Just Cause, although it had it's fair share of glitches. Good to see that the collectibles have more than needed and the Base Jump achievement is back.
