Default Getting kids involved with Gaming

I recently made the mistake of teaching my four and five year olds how to play games on the xbox. Those on my friends list may have noticed that all I seem to play is Feeding Frenzy 1 & 2. I now am going to have to buy a new console probably with kinect so that i may regain my position i n front of the tv.

I did the same thing. I now have two Xbox 360s; one in the living room and one in the dark and cold unfinished basement. Can you guess which one is mine and mine alone?

My guess is the basement. Sounds like the beginnings of a man cave to me

You see I did it the other way around. Ive had it all to myself in my room, but then I got Kinect sports and asked my dad to play, and now he never quits. Argh

Default Teaching kids gaming

i made this mistake starting with the megadrive with my oldest son who's 19 now, as a baby he would sit happily on my knee whilst i played.
next son was n64 i don't know how many times he deleted my goldeneye save yes golden guns the lot, i still bring it up now.
my daughters and other half got into gaming with the ds and Wii.
and at xmas i purchased a family xbox live for myself and my girls which was good value..the boys have had their account for years.

now to present day we have 5 360's (3 repaired after rrod)

my 7yr old girl wants to be a frag doll and would play day and night if i let her. and she's already into achievements.
my other two daughters 12 and 13 more into social side and playing girly stuff.
youngest boy 16 i have taught too well and he can beat me and any of my friends on cod , halo any fps... and we are also in a battle to beat each others gamerscore.
my oldest boy 19 more into rpgs and not too bothered with achievements..and he's gotta burd so has other interests.

so let this be a warning to you all once you start kids gaming then if you want to be able to get some tv/gaming time for yourself then you have to get them their own consoles n tvs.

have always loved video games and in a way pleased my family enjoy them too.
one bonus is you can buy kids games for 360 and play them too for nice easy achievements.

I know this from experience. My parents were into gaming when I was growing up and made the mistake of getting us involved when they got a SNES. When we got to the n64, I think they gave up trying to play lol.

idk what I'm going to do if I ever have kids.

PS: My parents still are better than me at Super Mario World. lol
