I was bored last night so i was looking at Xboxlive marketplace, i checked out games on demand what an EPIC FAIL!
Why? I just checked a few games did you see the prices?
Call of duty Black ops 69.99 euro - Halo Reach 69.99 euro just 2 examples.
I know some of the old games are 29.99 and a few are 19.99 euro, most of these titles can be picked up online or in stores for about 9.99 now.
Why would anybody on earth pay 69.99 for Halo reach or Black ops now, even at launch they cost 49.99 in stores here.
You can pick them up used for about a third of the XBL price, and when you are finished you can get some trade in value.
Microsoft should rethink games on demand!
1. Lower the price of games because we do not get a physical copy of the game, so we should get the game cheaper.
2. Have a loyalty scheme if you buy a full price title you get a % discount off the next title, which should include arcade titles also.
3. Games should drop in price the older the game, or at least go 1/2 price when they go platinum.
Rant over, anybody else got any opinions on this? I would be interested to know if anybody here has ever bought a full price game on XBL, what price did you pay and why!
Yeah, Red Dead was 60 foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr when it was like 30 new, now it finally dropped to 40, but that's still more than stores.
The best example though -
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was 60 dollars for MONTHS, until it finally went down to 20.

Going by todays currency rates 69.99 euro for Halo Reach on XBL that is $102.49 cents what price is Halo Reach on U.S. XBL? I would be interested to see if we are paying the same prices?
I never did understand why they changed the value of marketplace items and priced them like points why dont they just tell you the real price in euro or pound etc. They wont do that see because all the kids with dads credit card would know they are paying 5 euro for a hat to put on their avatar its one way of making money
i bought my copy of reach off games on demand.. and black ops.... and then i grew wings flew into the air and melted from flying too close to the sun....

Black Ops in the USA is $59.99 still, the same price it was at launch. Reach is the same, $59.99. I understand paying this much for the game with Games on Demand right when it comes out, but when it is maybe 40 bucks in stores now, why would anyone pay 59.99 still. Microsoft can't make much money on the Games on Demand feature.

WOW that is what i don't get you pay $59.99 XBL which is a ripoff anyway, we pay 69.99euro XBL that is $102.49 what the hell is going on with the price difference.
I think they might actually make some sales, if they take their heads down from their assholes and revamp the whole feature!
I think that whatever the retail price is then the Games on Demand (GoD ) version should be $5-$15 cheaper. There is no disc production cost so why would it even be the same price as retail? Plus the game developers cut out used games sales which increases their profits. GoD should always be cheaper.
I am not too sure what the situation in the US or UK, but in Australia, Xbox.com Australia have stated that the prices are kept the same as retail store to protect retail industry jobs. They cannot be seen to be cutting prices that would affect retail competition.
Make sense if you think about it. Soon there will be in-store Kiosks here that you can queue DLC to your Xbox.
