Don't shoot the messenger ok ! Its with regret that I have to inform those in the UK looking forward to a free trial weekend of Xbox Live Gold that Microsoft have suspended it due to technical reasons.

Major Nelson had confirmed in a blog earlier this week that Xbox Live Gold would be free this weekend to non subscribers.

Microsoft told CVG that "this weekend's planned Free Xbox Live Gold trial won't be happening in the UK - and has been postponed to a later date."

Microsoft's spokesman went on to say "We are committed to further trial and promotional activity for the FREE community and will be in a position soon to announce a further FREE LIVE Weekend"
