ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE

Dead Space Ignition is a prequel to the upcoming Dead Space 2. The story is fairly interesting and the game is free if you pre-ordered DS2. The game is very short. It'll take about an hour to complete the first time through if you go without a guide.

This is an easy 200 points. However, the gameplay is very bad and some of the puzzles (especially the later Trace Route games) are very annoying. You can finish this game in a couple of hours if you skip the cutscenes. There are 2 branching points and a total of 4 paths in the game that you need to follow to get the Chief Engineer achievement. You can finish the game in any order.

ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE

Trace Element - 15 points

Successfully complete a Trace Route hack in any single player mode

This is the first achievement you'll get. Trace Route is a racing game where you must reach the end before the blue dot. The first one isn't too hard.

Stormed the Core! - 15 points

Successfully complete a System Override hack in any single player mode

This is the second puzzle you'll do if you're playing Ignition mode. It's a tower defense type game where you play as the attacker. This gameplay mode can easily be done if you just mash the face buttons. Seriously, it's that easy. When you upgrade your RIG, you get a power up that allows you to destroy areas of the board.

Laser Burn - 15 points

Successfully complete a Hardware Crack in any single player mode

This game is a mirror reflection game and goes down as probably the most time consuming game in the later puzzles.

Dirty Work! - 10 points

Unlock the level 4 engineering RIG

This happens automatically in Ignition mode when you reach Chapter 4.

Did anyone survive? - 20 points

Complete Ignition Mode

Simply beat the game to get this achievement. You'll also unlock the Hacker suit for DS2. Nice!

In addition to that, you get to keep the power ups from the Level 4 RIGs making the next playthroughs much easier to go through.

But we're not finished yet... We still have to go through Ignition mode 3 more times (or more if you don't get the "Ain't got time to bleed achievement").

Go to the leaderboards mode and select Ignition and this time choose a path you didn't follow. Be warned that the game doesn't save in Leaderboard mode so you must do this all in one playthrough. It also needs to be done online.

Once you finish that you'll unlock Catch me if you can! achievement.

Catch me if you can! - 20 points

Complete one Ignition mode path through the Leaderboards

See Did anyone survive achievement above.

Stop the Clock! - 5 points

Successfully complete any hack on the Leaderboards

Go to Leaderboards and pick a puzzle type. Finish it and the achievement will unlock.

On your last playthrough, you'll unlock All your trace are belong to us, Infectious, and Planet Cracker when you finish the last of those puzzles in Ch 3. Shortly after those unlock you'll receive Chief Engineer. If you have all the other achievements, you don't have to finish Ch 4 if you don't want to.

Chief Engineer - 35 points

Complete all hacks in any single player mode

See Stop the Clock achievement above.

All your Trace are belong to us - 15 points

Successfully complete all Trace Route hacks in any single player mode

See Stop the Clock achievement above.

Infectious - 15 points

Successfully complete all System Override hacks in any single player mode

See Stop the Clock achievement above.

Planet Cracker - 15 points

Successfully complete all Hardware Cracks in any single player mode

See Stop the Clock achievement above.

Ain't got time to bleed! - 20 points

Successfully complete Ignition mode within 25 minutes by any route (excluding movies)

You have to beat the game in under 25 minutes. It might take you a couple of tries. I just went through a path I had already done and did the puzzles from memory. It's best to do this after your first playthrough because you will have the level 4 RIG, which will allow you to finish levels faster.

The hardest puzzles in my opinion are the Hardware Cracks as they require some thought to finish. Here's a link to a guide by II OE II that shows all the solutions to those puzzles.

And that's Dead Space Ignition. It's not going to prepare you for DS2 but it's a nice 200 points if you have the patience for it.
