INTRODUCTION:
Star Trek D-A-C is a top down shoot-em up arcade game. There a number of different modes, ship classes and the ability to pickup up upgrades and special use abilities whilst in play.
Before you play all the achievements make sure that when it loads up for the first time that you decline the game update, this will force you to play offline, however it will give you the ability to play a number of games with zero opponents which make some of these achievements like stealing candy from a baby. Note that you will not be able to do any of the versus achievements as the game requires you have downloaded the free DLC and you will need to update the game again, knock out the first few, download and update and then continue on.
For those of you who have accidentally applied the update simply go to System in the blade menus and clear the system cache to remove the updates. This will remove substantial data that you may have to re-download again, however a small inconvenience for the ease of getting a few achievements. Refer to the Remove Xbox 360 Updates link to the EX3A web site for further detailed instructions HERE
Step 1:
Decline update and go for the following achievements in order in Solo Mode
1. Born Leader (Assault Mode)
2. Vulcan Wisdom (Conquest Mode)
3. Imperial Instincts (Conquest Mode) (whilst doing this one also go for Mirror, Mirror)
Step 2:
Go into Versus Mode and play a Private Match Team Deathmatch with one opponent for Red Shirt.
Step 3:
Go into Solo mode and play Team Deathmatch to clean up balance of achievements.
ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE
Born Leader - 15 points
Capture all 4 points in a single Assault match
Go to Play, Solo, Assault, choose any map. At the next screen keep pressing LT until no opponents or allies remain selected and you just have one player only. If you are unable to get to just one then you have the update enabled and you need to refer to the instructions at the beginning of this guide to remove it. Once you have started the game simply capture all four points for the win with no opposition.
Vulcan Wisdom - 25 points
Don’t die or shoot, yet capture 3 points (including the enemy base) in a Conquest match
Go to Play, Solo, Conquest, choose any map. At the next screen keep pressing LT until no opponents or allies remain selected and you just have one player only. If you are unable to get to just one then you have the update enabled and you need to refer to the instructions at the beginning of this guide to remove it. Make sure not to accidentally fire at anything (not that you need to fire as you have no opponents) to get this achievement.
Imperial Instincts - 10 points
Earn 25 cumulative point captures in Conquest
Go to Play, Solo, Conquest, choose any map. At the next screen keep pressing LT until no opponents or allies remain selected and you just have one player only. If you are unable to get to just one then you have the update enabled and you need to refer to the instructions at the beginning of this guide to remove it. You will need to capture 25 conquest points in total. As you already start with 1 captured, this is equal to 3 per game and therefore you will need to play 8 full games and 1 extra to get the 25th capture point. Once achievement pops no need to finish the 9th game. Try to also get the Mirror, Mirror achievement while you are at it.
Mirror, Mirror - 10 points
Capture a point with the aid of your own wingman
Whilst going for the Imperial Instinct achievement make sure to pick up the special ability power-ups, you will find one that has a symbol with two ships in a diagonal pattern, if you pick up something other than the Wingman then just use the power-up so that you can pick up another.
When capturing the conquest point and just before completing the capture enable your Wingman special ability power-up by pressing LB or RB Achievement unlocked.
Red Shirt - 5 points
Be the first to die in a Versus multiplayer match
You will need to have the downloadable content enabled (which is free) and the game update to do this achievement, so exit the game restart and say yes to download and update. Now go to Play, Versus, Private Match and then any game mode and any map.
At the next screen keep pressing LT until you are left with just yourself and one AI opponent. Start the match. Once started simply stand still or go and find the opponent but do not fire, let them kill you. Achievement unlocked.
Kobayashi Maru - 20 points
Some achievements are unachievable... unless you cheat
In a Solo game you need to enter the cheat, the cheat gives you an increased rate of fire and ammo regeneration, you are not invulnerable. It also can’t be used in Versus games or Survival Mode (DLC). To enter the cheat simply pause the game by pressing START and pressing the following:
LT, Y, X, X, Y, RT
and press B to return back to the game. If done correctly you will see a message in the top right corner of the screen saying that weapon systems have been augmented.
Starfleet Medal of Honor - 30 points
No deaths or ejections, plus at least 15 kills, in a single match
Easiest done in conjunction with NCC-1701 achievement. Simply play a Solo game of Team Deathmatch on any map with only one opponent. Under host options make sure Goal Kills is set to 25 as you will not need more than this to get this achievement and NCC-1701 achievement, also make sure to set the Bot Difficulty to Easy, it means you can’t post your score to the leaderboard but we aren’t here for that are we. Once you go to start the match it will bring up the Select Ship Class screen, select Flagship class.
Once the match starts up make sure to pause the game and enter the Kobayashi Maru cheat listed above. Now all you need to do is dominate the single opponent you are against. Make good use of your special ability power-ups. Assuming you get all 25 kills prior to the time running out (increase the time limit should you need more at the Host Options screen before starting the match) and don’t die once, achievement unlocked.
NCC-1701 - 20 points
Earn 250,000 points as the Flagship class in one Team Deathmatch game
Refer above to the Starfleet Medal of Honor achievement for method to get this.
Academy Graduate - 5 points
Earn 1 kill with each ship class
Simply kill an opponent with each of the three ship classes including Fighter, Bomber and Flagship. These do not have to be done in the same match. You can check your statistics at the Main Menu or from the pause menu mid match.
Nero’s Rage - 25 points
Destroy 3 enemies while using a single invulnerability powerup
Best done in Solo Mode so that you can use the Kobayashi Maru cheat. I also set the number of Bots to maximum in a Team Deathmatch type game so that there was more of a chance to have opponents in clusters to take out. Once you have the Invulnerability power-up (shield symbol) try and wait for a cluster of three opponents, enable the power-up and then take them out.
The alternative is to play a Conquest type game and then try and find a cluster of three opponents trying to defend one of their capture points, enable the shield and then take them out. Either way job done.
No Mercy - 20 points
Earn 50 cumulative Escape Pod kills
After taking out your opponent they will launch their escape pod, try and destroy the pod before it has a chance to get away, you will see a message in the top right with the name of the ship and (ALL) if you have succeeded in killing the pod. Best class to use is the Fighter class and make sure you have the Kobayashi Maru cheat enabled to give you a rapid rate of fire with faster regeneration. Again you can track your progress to the 50 cumulative pod kills in the Statistics menu from the Main Menu or from pause mid match.
Bridge Commander - 15 points
Earn 250 cumulative kills in Team Deathmatch
Simply get a total of 250 cumulative kills across all Team Deathmatch games. Easiest done in Solo Mode so that you can use the Kobayashi Maru cheat and whilst trying to get your 50 escape pod kills for the No Mercy achievement. Again you can track your progress to the 250 cumulative kills in the Statistics menu from the Main Menu or from pause mid match. I personally found the fighter class to be easy to dominate, however choose whatever class suits your playing style best.
