Hey guys, I have approval from Slam Da Brakes for posting this just so you know
As you may know, those a**clowns at EA are shutting down more online servers, making online achievements on those games impossible to get, one of the games is NBA Live 07, which has an achievement which requires 1000 people to be online at the same time to unlock, the servers are closing on February 2nd.
Over at x360a.org (A major achievement website) the staff are organising an event to try and get 1000 people online, it has been done before and with great sucess, you can read more about it here:
Well, people have been asking about this for over two years now. And the time has finally come! EA have announced the server for the game will be turned off on Feb 2nd. We have chosen Sunday January 31st for the date. The times will be:
7PM: Central Europe (GMT +1)
6PM: UK (GMT)
1PM: US Eastern (GMT -5)
Noon: US Central (GMT -6)
11AM : US Mountain (GMT -7)
10AM : US Western (GMT -8)
We will follow the same process we went through last time. We will have multiple x360a rooms set up, with staff and senior members heading up the rooms. Obviously, the more people the better. There are various theories that 1 person can have 4 controllers signed in which count, others don't believe that this theory counts. We will be trying to track down a definitive answer from EA in the coming weeks.
Anyway, this is only going to work if everybody helps to spread the word. Please forward this thread to as many people as possible, as many communities as possible. Blog it, tweet it, Facebook it, text it. Do whatever you can. We've done this once already, let's do it again. Will be a good opportunity to get a shiny new Award badge
More details will be announced closer to the day, but for now we have a date to work with

I know there will debate whether to post this, however at the end of the day, this is an achievement site and any help to get achievements is appreciated.
No matter how 'arrogant' their site policy may be, I want us all to get achievements and if we have to use their resources, then so be it.

There's no need to call them a**clowns when they are trying to save money. Besides EA is dealing with a lawsuit with former Nebraska QB Sam Keller for him suing EA over his likenesses in NCAA College Football 08. So money may be needed to settle this lawsuit. Also why keep the servers up if barely anyone is on them?

yeah when they make a game they have an obligation to keep up the servers. and also becuase barely anyone plays them they dont have big servers for these games so its not expensive for a big game developer like EA to keep them up. and they definately have enough money to settle one of the probably dozens of lawsuits they get a year.

Yeah, EA has been sued by a LOT of former players as well as various sports organizations themselves. The current lawsuit is far from the first one, nor is it serious at all.

I don't understand why they don't just use a Peer to peer setup for these games. If that were the case those achievements would never become impossible. Many games already use this so it shouldn't be too difficult to do.
Besides the point of them shutting it down, no need to argue over it, would anyone would like to boost the achs?
