Treyarch studio head, Mark Lamia has confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops will feature 2-4 player co-op. This would surely make the hard difficulty veteran easy, unless of course they place in parenthesis "single player only"...

Treyarch's Call of Duty World at War had co-op, however in order to unlock Veteran, you had to complete single player story. Black Ops will be similar with single and  co-operative story modes, yet it is still unclear whether veteran will need to done as single player. As with Halo, Gears and Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops, completing hard difficulties with a buddy creates less controller throwing moments. Lets hope Treyarch are feeling kind when they set Veteran on Black Ops.

Call of Duty : Black Ops is due November 9.

you could play veteran from the start.

I don't care how many of these games they make, I have never liked any of them and tend to just stay clear. For every time i see some one playing these things i feel the need to run to the washroom and pledge my DUTY!
