After years of waiting, he is finally back. Anyone who has played games for any length of time knows about Duke, his girls and his crude comments. The new addition to the catalog stays true to the games and takes off several years after the last game. Dukes objective... To kick ass and chew bubble gum... And he's all outta' gum!

 

 

ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE

Story Related Achievements:

 

One-Eyed Freak - 10 points

Defeat the Cycloid

 

After making your way through the passages in the first building you will come to a lift which has a devastator sat on it, pick this up and you will be lifted to the football field.

 

A very easy strategy on this boss is to strafe whilst constantly firing at him. When you run out of ammo some will be dropped in by airship. This is located by red smoke on the floor. After he has lost about 50% of health he will then start dashing at you, if you keep strafing this won't make a difference. When his health bar turns red, run up to his head and press X when asked. Enjoy the humiliation!

 

 

Pit Champion - 25 points

Defeat the Battlelord in Las Vegas

 

This boss is located in the chapter "Vegas In Ruins" You will find yourself in a large pit with a piece of land in the center. My strategy was to pick up the RPG and run around him, when I got low on health  ran to cover behind the central island. To restock on ammo, there are a couple of resupply crates either side of the pit. Once his health reaches the red flashing stage run to his head and press X (one of my favourite humiliation follows!!)

Not Bad for a Human - 40 points

Defeat the Alien Queen

 

Found in the chapter "Queen Bitch" this boss is big and very ugly... unless you like that kind of thing! Before starting the fight make sure you pick up the RPG to the right of the area and top up on pipe bombs from the center. Then throw a pipe bomb off the green bouncy pads on the right to begin!

 

The queen has 2 attacks; one where she slams her claw down at you and one where she sends a sound wave at you. Both are easy to dodge by standing by the ammo crate to the left. She does however spit out Pregnators, so be sure to dispatch of these before continuing. I used the simple strategy of throwing a pipe bomb off the pads (either side) and then rinsing 5 rockets into her. When she is low on health (30% ish) Octabrains will start to spawn. DO NOT fire your RPG at this, they catch it and turn it back on you. Instead use your secondary weapon to take him down. When the queens health flashes red run up to her face and press X the usual  to start the finisher.

 

 

A Good Dam Fight - 25 points

Defeat the Battlelord on the Hoover Dam

 

This boss is located in the chapter "Dam Battle" and is very similar to the Pit Champion. You will clear the dam of enemies and reach the end where there are several cars and a bus piled up. As this boss spawns you will need to grab a RPG, one is located at the other end of the bridge from where he spawns. Get near a ammo supply crate and start spamming rockets at him, his machine gun does a lot of damage so be sure to be close to cars which you can cover behind.

 

This boss differs from others in that he has 2 lives. You take his health down then run to his head press the usual X then he will regain his health and get a huge grenade launcher. Just make sure your in cover and have plenty of distance between you and him and you should be fine, once again run up to his head and perform the finisher with X

 

 

Octacide - 25 points

Defeat the Octaking

 

This boss is a bit of a hassle. However using my strategy and a few tries you should have him down in no time. You will be on a moving platform and fight some flying enemies, then at the end you will see the Octaking on the floor. Make sure you have the Devastator equipped. He will rise into the room and start spawning Octabrains. You can get a few shots in on him before, I would advise retreating to the small room on the right.

 

Grab the ripper next to the building, crouch (whilst inside the building) from here you should be able to see the the Octabrains. The ripper seems to take them down very fast and their attacks should just hit on the frame. Keep killing the Octabrains until they stop spawning then grab the devastator and start unleashing on the Octaking.

 

When he is around 50% health he will start picking up metal crates and throwing them, these are easy to dodge by strafing. Then he will start sending shockwaves at you. Again just keep strafing and shooting with the devastator (he should go down in no time) When he falls to the floor reload your Devastator and shoot hell into him (no button pressing on this boss!)

 

 

Beating the One-Eyed Worm - 35 points

Defeat the Energy Leech

Found in the chapter "Blowing The Dam" this boss is very simple and easy. You will trigger it after you place the second explosive on the grating. Using the RPG (which is found on the seabed) just aim at him till it goes red and locks on before firing. I stood in the middle over the set of 3 air vents, strafing left and right.

 

He will try and crush you by slamming down but you can see this attack coming a mile off as he rears up before. His other attack is also very easy to dodge, just a simple projectile that he fires at you.

 

Ammo is located to the left in a crate, swim over, grab it and return to the center straight away. Keep on plowing away and you should have his health flashing red in no time. The usual go to his head and press X to trigger the finisher.

 

 

Piece of Cake - 20 points

Complete the SP campaign on Easy Difficulty

 

As the achievement states, complete the game on the easy difficulty rating. Just make sure you take cover when your ego is low. Most enemies don't like being shot with the shotgun, so always a handy weapon to carry! Will unlock when the credits come up. (see Damn, I'm Good for tips)

 

 

Let's Rock - 30 points

Complete the SP campaign on Normal Difficulty

 

As the achievement states, complete the game on the Normal Difficulty rating. Enemies hit you harder and are more accurate however go down just as easy as on easy. Once again use the shotgun as your main weapon and the ripper as a secondary (unless your going for the Gunslinger achievement) Will unlock when the credits roll. (see Damn, I'm Good for tips)

 

 

Come Get Some - 40 points

Complete the SP campaign on Hard Difficulty

 

As the achievement states, complete the game on the Hard Difficulty rating. Enemies hit you harder and are more accurate however go down just as easy as on normal. Once again use the shotgun as your main weapon and the ripper as a secondary (unless your going for the gunslinger achievement) Will unlock when the credits roll. (see Damn, I'm Good for tips)

 

 

Damn, I'm Good - 50 points

Complete the SP campaign on Insane Difficulty

 

As the achievement states, complete the game on Insane Difficulty rating. This can only be unlocked after playing through the game on Easy, Normal or Hard difficulty first. The main difference on Insane is that you die... lots... very easily! Will unlock when the credits pop up.

Tips:

Always use cover in the game, especially if there is more than one enemy! If your ego is low. Get to cover!

 

Carrying the shotgun and ripper (or even better the railgun) will make life a lot easier!

 

Check all areas and crates for ammo. Sometimes a pipe bomb can save your life!

Find all ego boosts, this increases your shield and that tiny difference can be life or death (see I Am All That Is Man for locations)

Extermination - 25 points

Kill 100 aliens

 

As the achievement states kill 100 enemies, any way you want, with any weapon. If you kill some enemies then die and reload checkpoint it DOES still count these kills. This comes in useful for the individual weapon kills.

 

If you are wanting the achievement fast then you can rinse kills in the chapter "Mothership" pretty fast by shooting down the dropships and then dying.

 

Nuclear Devastation - 50 points

Kill 250 aliens

 

As the achievement states kill 250 enemies, any way you want, with any weapon. There are well over 250 enemies in the game so you will get this! If you kill some enemies then die and reload checkpoint it DOES still count these kills. This comes in useful for the individual weapon kills.

 

If you are wanting the achievement fast then you can rinse kills in the chapter "Mothership" pretty fast by shooting down the dropships and then dying.

 

 

Natural Disaster 3x - 10 points

Kill 3 aliens at once

 

Can be obtained very simply on the chapter "Mothership" As the dropships come in to drop enemies shoot the ship not the enemies and it will blow up causing 3 enemies to die. This took a few attempts for it to count. Alternatively baby Octabrains go down very nicely with a pipe bomb and tend to clump together if you run around.

 

 

On the Noggin - 25 points

Kill 30 aliens with headshots

 

I started this from the beginning of the game, using the pistol if you aim well and take your time, headshots are easy to get. However if you don't have the patience or find it hard without a scope, then using the railgun makes life a lot easier. The best place for rinsing headshots is in the chapter "Highway Battle" you will come to a mine and a small area with some buildings and a pig cop on a turret, close by is a railgun. Just keep shooting the enemy on the turret in the head and another one will run out to take his place. When out of ammo, just walk out and be killed. Will only take 2 deaths to achieve 25 kills.

 

 

Judge, Jury, Executioner - 20 points

Execute 20 aliens

 

Executions are performed when an enemy drops to their knees. You can then run up to them and press X to do a finishing move. I found it to be quite a random occurrence in the game. Best way was to shoot people in the chest with the ripper.

 

However in the chapter "The Shrunk Machine" you can find a freeze gun at the start next to the 3 men and this makes life very easy. Simply freeze the enemies and then run up to them and execute this also counts towards the achievement Freeze Well!

 

Freeze Well! - 20 points

Kill 15 frozen aliens

 

You first find the Freeze Gun in the chapter "The Shrunk Machine" next to three men. You must use this to freeze the enemy before performing an execution, shooting or punching them to make them shatter. You must keep the beam on the enemy for a short amount of time for it to totally freeze them.

 

The Freeze Gun has unlimited ammo, however it needs time to recharge. Be aware of this before running into battle.

 

 

Big Guns, Big Ships - 10 points

Blow up 5 enemy gunships or dropships

 

Very simple to achieve. You should get this during the mothership battle in the chapter "Mothership" Whilst mounted on a turret they will fly towards you. I had to shoot around 10 for this to pop so if it does not come after 5 keep shooting.

 

Baron von Nukem - 20 points

Shoot down 20 alien fighters

 

There are plenty of fighters to shoot down during the game, most are found when you are on turrets. If you cannot wait to get this in the chapter "Crash Course" then its easily obtainable during the mothership battle in "Mothership". Simply shoot the fighters until the mothership kills you, then reload chapter and do it all again. Should be possible after 2 or 3 deaths.

 

 

Downtown Barrel Beatdown - 15 points

Kill 10 aliens with tossed objects

 

In the chapter "The Duke Cave" you will be taught how to throw. Simply pick up the trophy/object and throw it at an enemy for an instant kill. You will come to an area with two enemies in a gym. Pick up a trophy from the hallway outside and throw it at one then pick up a weight and throw at the other. Rinse and repeat until the achievement pops.

 

 

Duke Angry, Duke Smash! - 20 points

Kill 15 aliens with melee attacks while on steroids

 

You first receive the steroids in the chapter "The Duke Cave" when you place the final battery into the reactor. As soon as you take them off the side, enemies will spawn around the edge of the room. Pop your pills by pressing left on D-Pad and go on a rampage. After all enemies are dead or your roid rage ceases just reload checkpoint and go again.

 

 

Dead Useful - 15 points

Kill 10 aliens with environmental explosives

 

Explosives are either red barrels or red propane tanks. I encountered a hallway in the chapter "The Duke Cave" after you get the pistol go into the hallway and shoot each collection of barrels as the enemies spawn. As you get to the end where the large turret is located reload checkpoint and repeat. This is also a good place to get the Downtown Barrel Beatdown achievement if you don't have it by then.

 

 

Sticky Bomb Like You! - 10 points

Put a Trip Mine on a live alien

 

Trip mines become available at the end of the chapter "The Lady Killer" and are thrown using LB. They take a while to activate and are "live" when a red beam is visible from them. Sticking one to an enemy is a simple process of running as close as you can get and throwing one onto them. Usually they run away from you if it sticks to them, however be wary of them exploding next to you.

Trapper - 20 points

Kill 10 aliens with Trip Mines

 

Trip mines are found after the Chapter "The Lady Killer" The are thrown by using  LB and take a short while to activate. When "live" they will have a red beam coming from them, simple chuck these to walls and lure the enemy into the red beam.

 

 

Hippy-Stomper - 20 points

Foot stomp 12 aliens

 

Duke can stomp enemies if they are shrunk by either the shrink ray or the shrinking pads. I found this achievement easy to get on the chapter "The Duke Burger" at the end where you hold off the roof. There is a shrink ray located on the roof and also one on the roof of the building you can go up onto. Simply shoot the pig cops and then look down as you run over them. Rinse and repeat. If you run out of ammo then reload checkpoint.

 

 

Road Rage - 20 points

Kill 15 aliens with the monster truck

 

The monster truck is found first in the chapter "The Mighty Foot" As you get in the truck just run down enemies as you drive towards the highway. There are hundreds of enemies in the chapters with the monster truck so this should come easily. I personally just got the achievement out of the way as soon as I could with the first 15 enemies so I could drive past a lot of enemies after.

 

 

Fork the Pork - 10 points

Kill 6 aliens with the forklift

 

The forklift is found in the chapter "The Forkstop" and is super fun to drive! Raise the forks by pressing Y and go on a kebab session. There are plenty of enemies to kill in the first section you receive the forklift, however there is a second section if you need kills.

 

 

 

 

Mini Games

 

 

Balls of Steel - 25 points

Earn a 1,000,000 pinball score in SP

 

The first pinball machine can be found in the chapter "The Duke Cave". There is also another one in "Duke Nukem's Titty City". The idea is to get the combo's up by lighting up the 3 lights at the top center of the table and then bounce the ball off the top left paddle softly. Occasionally tilting the table to the left when needed.

Air-Duke - 30 points

Win air hockey with a score of 7-0 in the strip club

 

Located in the games room in the strip club in the chapter "Duke Nukem's Titty City" Go past the slot machines and pool tables and it is on your left.

 

A bit of a pain to get used to due to controlling, but after a few attempts I found a way of making it a bit easier. Bring you hand all the way back towards your end of the table and position it in the middle of your goal. Now when your opponent hits the puck it should move slowly and you will have a lot of time to react. When its down your end try and hit it hard and straight back to him. Then return to the previous position. Repeat and hope it goes in for you!

 

You must win 7-0 and leaving the table for any reason resets the score so be aware!

Lots of Whacking - 25 points

Win a game of Alien Abortion in the strip club

 

Located in the same room as the air hockey in the strip club on the chapter "Duke Nukem's Titty City" in the back right hand corner. You must beat the game so pass every wave. Its actually very simple and can be done first time with no problem. I found that if I kept the sight in the middle of the table and aimed just above the center then I could hit all aliens by moving left and right. Just start the game and press  to hit the aliens as they pop out.

Flagon of Chuckles - 5 points

Drink a beer in SP

 

Can be found throughout the game in a silver can. First found in the gym in "The Duke Cave" just press Down on the D-Pad. Your vision will go blurry and you will be able to take more damage.

 

 

Juiced - 5 points

Take steroids in SP

 

First found in the reactor room in "The Duke Cave" just press Left on the D-Pad  and the achievement will unlock. Using steroids makes your punches stupidly strong and you smash people to bits.

 

 

Substance Abuser - 10 points

Drink beer while on steroids or vice versa in SP

 

Can be first done when the steroids are received for the first time in "The Duke Cave" Just press Down on the D-Pad and then Left on the D-Pad and the achievement should pop.

 

 

Noms - 10 points

Eat 10 pieces of food during the SP campaign

 

As stated only food counts for this achievement. As you come down from Dukes apartment in "Damn! It's Late..." you will see some vendors on your right in a small area. The one on the right dispenses food, so just span the order button and eat away. If you miss this there is another vendor in the strip club.

 

 

Turd Burglar - 10 points

Find and steal a piece of poo

 

Probably my favourite achievement! As you start the game taking a piss, leave the urinal and look around the bathroom to find the cubicles. Enter them and look into the toilet. One will contain a floating poo. Move around until it says grab and the achievement should unlock as you pick it up. Then feel free to throw it around the room and at the nearby soldier. Just for comedic effect.

 

 

Drawrings - 10 points

Doodle something on the whiteboard in SP

 

The first time you can draw on the blackboard is after you leave the bathroom in "Duke Lives" The 3 soldiers will be stood around it. When two leave you can interact with the board using X and right using RT. The achievement should pop as you write.

 

He's Got a Hologram! - 5 points

Use a Holoduke in SP

 

Pressing Right on the D-Pad will use a Holoduke. The first place you can use one is on the rooftop battle in "The Duke Burger". It is located with the Shrink Ray in the building.

 

I Need a Towel - 10 points

Get hit by 10 Pregnator bombs

 

Pregnator's are located in the chapter "The Hive" They come out of the small sacks on the floor and crawl around. As well as attaching themselves to your face they can spit white goo at you. You must be hit 10 times by the white goo for the achievement. Pregnators can also be found on "Queen Bitch" and "Underground"

 

I Need a Date - 5 points

Look at every page of a calendar in SP

 

On the chapter "The Shrunk Machine" you meet three survivors and one unlocks a door for you. In the next area you get attacked by lots of enemies. In the room opposite the one you came in from there is a desk. If you turn around and look next to the door you came in there is the calendar. Flick through it using X to get the achievement.

 

 

FBT - 10 points

Get knocked down 10 times

 

This only counts the times you are knocked down (not killed) The best place to achieve this is on the alien queen in "Queen Bitch" Her shockwave attack sends duke on his back every time. So just run around dodging her pound attack until she does this.

 

 

Sunday, Black Sunday - 5 points

Shoot down the blimp above the stadium

 

When fighting the one-eyed freak look up and you will see a blimp flying around with neons on the side. Shoot you devastator just in front of it to allow for travel time and after 10-20 shots it should come down. Be wary of getting hit in the back though from the boss.

 

 

Nobody Likes a Whiner - 5 points

Knock out the talent at the talk show

 

After being told the show has been cancelled due to the aliens landing, leave the stage and you will see a man moaning at another guy. Just walk up to him and press RT when you get your fists out.

Gunslinger - 50 points

Carry the gold pistol through the whole SP campaign

 

This pistol is received in "The Duke Cave". You must keep this pistol for every chapter of the game. You can get another weapon but never swap the pistol for any reason. If you lose your pistol on a chapter you can replay the chapter in chapter replay and this will still allow the achievement to unlock. Best to do this achievement on lower difficulties as you will need two good guns on harder difficulties.

 

Achievement will unlock when the credits start.

 

 

Companion Barrel - 10 points

Unlock the secret closet at the end of the Forkstop

 

As the description says, this is located in "The Forkstop". After turning on the power to the large room and killing the enemies in it follow the video below. Its would not be clear explaining it in words.

Find all 3 helmets in the SP campaign

 

These are helmets and masks that are hidden in the game (not the workers hats)

 

1. Located at the start of "Vegas In Ruins" You are asked if you want green power armor by one of the soldiers. Inside the truck is where the 1st helmet is located (spartan helmet)

 

2. In the chapter "The Hive" there is a secret hidden area to the left of a flesh door. You must crouch to get in here, there will be a dead engineer here. The dead space helmet is the 2nd collectable.

 

3. During the chapter "Blowin' The Dam" You have to swim to an area near the wrecked boats. There is a dead body floating and to the left of him there is a small shaped light. Swim along the seabed and into an opening to find the final helmet which is a psycho mask from borderlands

These are located in the chapter "Duke Nukem's Titty City" They are the silver cans not the bottles. There are 9 in total:

1. Behind the bar in the fridge

3. In the games room, as you enter its on a stall to the right hand side near the slot machines.

4. Also in the games room, near the air hockey. On the side separating the pool and air hockey

5. In the main area, at the end of the strippers "catwalk"

6. In the maintenance room, down the stairs from where you can view the security cameras.

7. In the mens restroom, opposite the man standing there. On the side.

8. In the code locked door, the code is 4768. Sat on Duke's desk.

9. After collecting all the things needed go up to the champagne bar, follow the woman to the booth. Don't sit down straight away, instead look to your right to find the last beer.
