ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE

Roadmap:

Achievement Difficulty: 7/10

Achievement Time to 1000G: 15 + Hours

Missable Achievements: Straight A's (If you win the homeroom mode and don't do it perfect you will not get this achievement)

This is my first guide.

Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader: Game Time is a trivia/general knowledge game for the Microsoft Xbox 360 Entertainment System. From 1 to 4 players local or on Xbox Live all can enjoy the fun and excite from the hit tv show starring Jeff Foxworthy. This NOT to be confused with the arcade version of the game. This is the retail version which entails 30 achievements for 1000G. If you have any suggestions for the guide or improvements please feel free to leave your input. Before you do ANYTHING go into the options menu and make sure Extra Credit has an X through the check box. You will need this checked to get some of the achievements.

ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE

Golden Apple - 25 points

Win $1,000,000 in Homeroom mode (local game only)

First select new game, then homeroom. Press X to change the difficulty to easy, medium, or hard. The achievements can be gotten on any difficulty. Once selected, press a to join, y to select your character, then when you are all set hit start.

If you have seen the TV show, the homeroom made is setup exactly like the TV show, however, if you have not seen it here is an overview on what to expect. You start out by customizing your character or picking one of the preset characters, however, it does not give you any type of advantage if you pick the male or the female.

You will start off by choosing a 5th grader to help you with your first two questions. This is important as if you look at the bottom of the kids desk it will show their strongest subjects. The best strategy is to match them up with the categories on the game board. This will help you later on if you need them. However, REMEMBER, you only get the child for two questions then you have to pick a new one. You CANNOT pick the same child twice. The child's strengths seem to change per game, therefore, you have to keep an eye out on who is strong with what subjects. If you forget you can always press Y before picking the category and the child will repeat their strong subjects.

Once you choose a category of the 10 on the board, you will be asked a question. There is no timer and all the questions are multiple choice, so if your not sure you can go and look it up on Google if you are just going for the achievement and don't feel like sitting there pondering. The 10 questions will each have 2 from each grade, therefore that is 2 from 1st grand, 2 from 2nd, 2 from 3rd, 2 from 4th, 2 from 5th. You can answer these in any order. I recommend going for the 5th grade questions first as they are the hardest.

If you are not sure on the question here are your options:

PEEK: This allows you to look at the students answer. Remember its not ALWAYS right, however, if you picked the child strength to match with the question then it is more likely to be right than a shot in the dark. You can decide to agree or disagree with the child.

COPY: This is similar to peek, however, this time you HAVE to take the child's answer.

SAVE: If you get the question wrong you have the opportunity to get saved. This feature will save you if the child you have picked has gotten the question right, but you have gotten it wrong.

All of the above can only be used once per game.

If you are unsure of the question and none of the cheats have helped, you can drop out by hitting back, this will allow you to keep your money. If you do not drop out and get the question wrong you will go home with either $0 or $25,000 depending on how far you have progressed.

Once you get all 10 questions correct you have two options:

1. Walk away with 500,000 (you will not get the achievement)

2. Go for the million dollar question. You will get the achievement if you get this right. The difference between this question and the other questions is this question is a write in. You have to have the answer EXACTLY correct and spelled right or it will not count. If you are unsure of the spelling consult http://www.google.com or http://www.m-w.com to look up spellings or definitions of words. Once, you get this question right you will receive the achievement.

Straight A's - 50 points

Play a perfect game in Homeroom (Win $1 Million with an A+ and no cheats)

Follow the same strategy as golden apple, however, this mode requires that you get 0 questions wrong and also do not use any cheats. The third requirement is one that can be a bit confusing. To get the A+ grade, if the extra credit option is checked you will get an Extra Credit question sometime randomly in the game.

This question will usually be something such as put the numbers in order or put something in abc order. If you get this right it will boost your grade up to an A+ and you will receive the achievement for a perfect game as long as the other questions are answered correctly without cheats.

50 Question Streak - 100 points

Correctly answer 50 questions in a row (Xbox LIVE only)

This is best done in the "Spelling Showdown" mode. To get to this mode, select Xbox Live, Showdown, then change the options at the bottom so it is at spelling only and easy. You will simply be asked what word is spelled correctly or what word is spelled incorrectly. You should be able to get 50 in a row here easily. My record is 106.

Teacher's Pet - 25 points

Earn a total of 25 points across all Extra Credit games played

Extra Credit questions appear randomly throughout the game. They consist usually of ordering a number or letter. You need to get 25 of these right throughout your history of games to get the achievement. You WILL NOT receive these unless "extra credit" is checked off in the game options. The fastest way to get them is to play home room and you usually get them after 2 or 3 questions. I also found if i flunked out the extra credit would appear after flunking about 50% of the time.

Walking Encyclopedia - 100 points

Answer 6,000 questions correctly

Simple enough, just answer 6000 questions correctly. This counts across all game modes including xbox live. You can view your progress by selecting report card on the main menu.

Turbo controller method: If you have a turbo controller such as the Street Fighter IV controller you can get this very easy. Setup a Battle of the Wits Match on Easy vs the CPU. Set the Controller to Turbo the A button. Put a piece of scotch tape on the A button. You will answer about 800 questions an hour right and it will auto rematch as well.

Know-It-All - 50 points

Answer 1,000 questions correctly

Same as the 6,000 achievement just 1,000 correct answers.

Gold Ruler - 30 points

Platinum Protractor - 50 points

$50,000,000 total winnings

For this you will need to accumulate 50,000,000 in total winnings. This can be done by doing any of the offline game modes (quick play, homeroom, battle of wits, schoolroom showdown, three and out). Xbox Live winnings do count towards this as well. There are a few methods to get fast money:

1. Spelling Showdown on Easy. Setup a spelling showdown on easy. The winner of this will get 200,000k+ if you get the most of the questions correct. Either play against the computer or on Xbox Live. The best part about Xbox live all the participants keep all their money therefore it is possible for all 4 people to get 200k or so in 1 boosting match.

2. Homeroom on Easy. This is a little harder. Basically answer all 10 questions in the homeroom mode to win a million dollars. Use the strategy in golden apple. Win in this mode 50 times and the achievement is yours.

3. Three and Out Method. This will be referred to as the TOM in the rest of the guide. To set this up go onto Xbox live or with a 2nd controller offline. DO NOT PLAY AGAINST THE COMPUTER. The loophole in this mode is the only time you are penalized is for a wrong answer. You are not forced to answer any of the questions. Therefore wait until you see a question you definitely know the answer to and then answer it. Repeat this for all 10 questions and you will have 1 million dollars. Repeat 50 times for the achievement

Graduation Cap - 50 points

Complete 12th grade

To get this achievement you must complete 12th grade. The requirements for 12th grade are 32,000 career points. The way you obtain these points is by answering a number of questions correctly or winning games offline or on Xbox Live. To view your progress select report card from the main menu. There really is no set strategy for this it should just pop along the way of going for all the other achievements such as 50 million dollars.

Copper Bookworm - 25 points

$1,000,000 in Showdown spelling games

This is a pretty simple achievement. From the main menu, select new game then school room showdown. From there hit X and change the subject to spelling as well as choosing your difficulty (any of them work). You can then either play against the cpu or another controller. It does not matter what you do here, because each player will get the chance to answer. The faster you answer the question, the more points for a correct answer.

The question in this category will simply ask you if a word is spelled right or not. Pay close attention to what they are asking and the questions should be pretty easy. I accumulated around 200k per game of 15 questions, therefore about 5 games of this will get you the achievement.

Number Cruncher - 25 points

$1,000,000 in Showdown math games

This is a pretty simple achievement. From the main menu, select new game then school room showdown. From there hit X and change the subject to math as well as choosing your difficulty (any of them work). You can then either play against the CPU or another controller. It does not matter what you do here, because each player will get the chance to answer. The faster you answer the question, the more points for a correct answer. The question in this category will simply ask you to do a simple math problem such as 50+750=? or 700-100=? Pay close attention to what they are asking and the questions should be pretty easy, however, some of them might be hard to do in your head.

I found this harder than the spelling because you only get 10 seconds to answer the question and that is not a lot of time to think. However, the questions are multiple choice. I accumulated around 200k per game of 15 questions, therefore about 5 games of this will get you the achievement.

Clean Sweeper - 10 points

Correctly answer one question from all categories

Simple, Answer one question from each category in the game. Homeroom is the easiest method to get this. You can check your progress on the report card feature on the main menu. It will tell you in the report card how many questions you got right and wrong from each category.

Porcelain Lab Rat - 20 points

Correctly answer 100 Science questions (all variations)

Simple, Answer 100 questions from the Science Category in the game. Homeroom is the easiest method to get this. You can check your progress on the report card feature on the main menu. It will tell you in the report card how many questions you got right and wrong from each science category. The following count as science: Animal Science, Astronomy, Earth Science, Life Sciences, Health, Physical Science, Space Science.

Crystal Sundial - 20 points

Correctly answer 100 History questions (all variations)

Simple, Answer 100 questions from the History Category in the game. Homeroom is the easiest method to get this. You can check your progress on the report card feature on the main menu. It will tell you in the report card how many questions you got right and wrong from each history category. The following count as history: U.S. History, World History.

Extra-Sharp Pencil - 10 points

Play 100 complete games (combined)

This counts for offline and Xbox Live. Simply play 100 games. Fastest is Battle of the Wits. You can just continuously spam A and lose and you will still get the achievement even if you go 0-100.

Ruby Apple - 25 points

Win $1,000,000 in Homeroom (Xbox LIVE only)

This is similar to the achievement golden apple. The only difference is the achievement has to be done online. Use the strategy outlined in the golden apple achievement description and you should not the 1,000,000.

Brass Bell - 10 points

Win one Xbox LIVE game (any non-Homeroom mode)

This could be Battle of Witts, Homeroom, 3 and out, or Showdown. Just win one match.

Head of the Class - 10 points

Win an Xbox LIVE match consisting of 4 players (any mode)

This one is the same as brass bell however you need 4 people in the game and record a win. Please check the achievement trading thread for people to boost with.

Academic Barbarian - 20 points

Win one game in each mode over Xbox LIVE

Again simple. Win one of Showdown, Homeroom, Battle of the Wits, Three and Out.

Note: IT DOES NOT count as winning unless you come out with money. For example, say you and your opponent both finish battle of the wits at $0, that is NOT a win.

Honor Society - 25 points

Win 25 Xbox LIVE games (combined)

Just win 25 games over Xbox live. Again counts in Homeroom, Showdown, 3 and out, and Battle of the Wits.

Class President - 50 points

Win 50 Xbox LIVE games (combined)

Same as 25 but 50 this time.

Teacher - 20 points

$1 million total winnings on Xbox LIVE

See Superintendent.

Assistant Principal - 30 points

$5 million total winnings on Xbox LIVE

Principal - 40 points

$10 million total winnings on Xbox LIVE

Superintendent - 50 points

$25 million total winnings on Xbox LIVE

You will need $25 million over Xbox LIVE to get this achievement. This can be done by going into homeroom and winning the 1 million 25 times, however, if you are not good at homeroom the i suggest the spelling mode as it is very easy. The TOM method mentioned in the guide will help you out greatly. It takes a while to grind out this much money 6+ hours for sure, however, maybe quicker with the TOM method.
