The only way to complete Halo 3 and pick up most of the points is to play on the hardest difficulty Legendary. The game completion achievements are all stackable and you will also pick up level completion achievements which bring up to a total of 655 points.

 

However to play Legendary on solo can be insanely hard. The only SUPER EASY way is to play the campaign co-op with three other friends. It is possible to do with two, but a lot harder. Playing with four players the game becomes almost ridiculously easy as one player can stay back, while all the other players will keep re-spawning, making clearing an area super easy.

 

Online achievements are also achieve-able by boosting, however it takes some organization as you need 8 players to start a ranked match or 4 players for Lone Wolves. Be warned, Bungie will also ban anyone seen boosting as they want to protect their stats, so be careful. I have added a sneaky way of boosting in the guide.

 

 

This guide only includes the original 1000 points.

 

 

ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE

Landfall - 20 points

Finish the first mission of the Campaign on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary.

 

To complete all of these quickly and easy, play on Legendary on co-op with three other friends. However if you cannot find three other friends then completing these missions on Normal (as easy will not unlock these achievements) is not too difficult at all. They are nice and linear and enemies do not re-spawn anywhere.

 

If you playing on Legendary on co-op then here are some tips. Depending on your party size, one player needs to remain in safe area while the other players attack and clear the area ahead. If a player dies, he will respawn where the player in the safe area is. Unlike a normal FPS, the enemies in Halo 3 , do not respawn, so it is quite easy to clear an area with players “that do not die”

 

If you all die, you will all respawn at a previous checkpoint. Some of these checkpoints are quite long, so this tactic above ensures you progress quite quickly. Communication is important in that you nominate or decide which player stays in the safe area. Just take it in turns.

 

Also make sure no players quit the game unless you have finished a level or at the start of a level. If you quit, the level will have to be replayed from the start. The same applies if you lose connection. So it is best that the host has at least a good connection.

 

 

Holdout - 20 points

Finish the second mission of the Campaign on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary

The Road - 20 points

Finish the third mission of the Campaign on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary

These skulls are collectibles and they unlock potentials in the game that make it more challenging or more humorous, depending on how you look at it. There are actually thirteen but you only need the nine gold skulls for the achievements. A couple of these skulls are very challenging to get and can be frustrating during Legendary. They are easily, easily missed and once you past a certain checkpoint almost impossible to return to find without re-starting the level. Some also disappear if you clear the area.

 

If you playing on co-op, only one party member needs to pick up the skull for all members to get the achievement,

You get EXP for winning matches or coming in the top half so just get 5 EXP. For this achievement you can also get just by playing ten games online (win or lose).

 

 

UNSC Spartan - 15 points

Earn your Sergeant rating to be recognized as a true Spartan (Online).

 

You just need to make your way to 20 EXP. Win 20 games or more to get this.

 

Spartan Officer - 25 points

Advance to the Spartan Officer ranks (Online).

 

This used to be 70 EXP, but Bungie changed it 50 EXP now in any playlist. win 50 matches ranked or social.

 

Two for One - 5 points

Score a Double Kill with a single spartan laser shot in a ranked free for all playlist (Online)

 

For this online achievement and the ones that follow below, they pretty much self explanatory. These are unlocked on any ranked free for all game types, which is Lone Wolves. If you want a sneaky way of doing these, try a this method below of boosting as there is a way of getting one or more friends into the match, thereby helping you get some of the achievements.

 

The trick is to set your preferred language to a different language and if you (and your friends) choose a language that is pretty low on players, then chances are you will be thrown into the same match.

 

You must have a least FOUR players to start a match. Before you attempt this, make sure you remember where you have clicked  or write it down. You will change the language of your console and you will need to navigate back, to return it to English or your actual preferred language.

 

To do this, first go to your Xbox 360 dashboard

 

1. Go to  Settings > System Settings > Console Settings > then Language.

 

2. Select a language (try second from the bottom which is Korean I think )

Load the Halo 3 disc and you will notice the language has changed. In the main menu, Select Matchmaking - which is third from the top.

 

3. Press X to Edit Matchmaking , then select My Language which is third from the top.

 

4. Make sure the game is set to Lone Wolves (the games types are all named in English) then select Start Matchmaking - which is above the X.

 

5. Next, get your friends to Start Matchmaking at the same time. Once you start Matchmaking check for your friends Gamertag on the right.

 

Chances are, especially if you pick a time with low number of players, you will have at least one friend into the match, but you usually get more. Just as a final note, all the achievements will pop up in language you have chosen, so remember what achievement you are going for !

 

 

Triple Kill - 5 points

I found this easier done in Campaign and you can do this on Easy and it will unlock. On the third mission (Tsavo Highway) there is part where you encounter your first Wraith and some Marines are inside a building. Go to the building and there will be a turret gun and some mines. Pick up those mines and plant them on a damaged chopper by pressing X.

 

Make sure the chopper is damaged and you can soften it up but firing some bullets into it first. The tricky part is that you "blow up an enemy vehicle with equipment" and not blow up the enemy!

 

Too Close to the Sun - 5 points

Destroy an enemy banshee with the spartan laser or missile pod in a ranked playlist or in campaign

 

On the level the Covenant, you start off with a Spartan Laser and there are some banshees flying around after you destroy your first Wraith. If you miss or run out of ammo, reload the checkpoint. There are also some further on the level, but you will need to keep the Spartan Laser with you. Can be unlocked on Easy.

Fear the Pink Mist - 5 points

Kill 5 enemies with the needler in a ranked free for all playlist or in campaign

 

Very easy and probably the first achievement you get in the game. Just pick up a needler (pink spiky gun - there's one in the first level) and shoot some enemies.

 

 

Headshot Honcho - 5 points

Kill 10 enemies with headshots in a ranked free for all playlist or in campaign

 

You can only unlock this with a sniper rifle. Best place I found is on the level "The Ark" as you start off with a sniper rifle. It needs to be done in a row as if you get shot and die, the counter resets. Some people say if you miss or do a body shot, it will not unlock. I am not too sure as I never missed so best to be safe. Can be done on Easy.

 

Used Car Salesman - 5 points

Destroy a vehicle that has three enemies in it in a ranked playlist or in campaign

 

At the end of the very first level, after you deactivate the shield where Sgt. Johnson and his marines are trapped, quickly go outside with a brute shot and there will be phantom approaching. Wait until the turret shoots at you FIRST then shoot off the turret gun off the phantom and it should unlock. Took me a couple of tries so it may be slightly glitchy.

 

Marathon Man - 40 points

Locate and access all Terminals in the Campaign

 

There are seven terminals and the locations can be found here. Credit goes to Baphom3t for the video.

 

Slightly glitchy for some as it did not unlock for a few people I know. This is how I unlocked them. When you access the Terminals make sure it loads up the screen fully. Press A until you cannot go any further then wait until the screen turns red. Wait until the message Fragment Ends appear or keep pressing A until it does. The game apparently registers you have accessed a terminal once that message appears. Head to the next checkpoint, then quit.

 

MVP - 5 points

Earn the MVP in any ranked playlist (Online)

 

Get the best kill / death ratio on any rank match and this will unlock. Needs to be done in a team match and I don't think your team needs to win either.

 

 

Guerilla - 10 points

Score over 15,000 points in the Campaign meta-game on the first mission

 

The meta-games are when you have turned on scoring. Not easy these and as you need to have some skulls on to score enough. Go to Edit Campaign to turn on the different skulls. Playing also on Heroic or Legendary and finishing the level on time will give you multiples as well.
